NOT like the Corelle I've had before
SO disappointed! I've had my other Corelle dishes for years, and never had a problem. This set had problems within 2 months of having it. I wash them by hand (I don't put in the dishwasher), and I don't put them in the microwave. Within a short period of time, the black on a couple of the dishes 'bubbled' up. VERY noticeable and you can also feel it. Also, one of the cereal bowls got a small chip on the rim. These Corelle dishes are VERY thin! BTA-MALL wouldn't do anything, since it's past thirty days. I've tried MANY times to call the distributer, and I keep getting a recording that they are 'experiencing a larger than normal' amount of calls, and to call back. Every time I call, it's the same recording.
I've shopped on BTA-MALL for many years, it's really frustrating that they wouldn't help me, all they did was give me the phone number of the distributer, but that didn't do any good since they don't answer their phone!

This is the second time I purchased the Corelle 20 Piece Livingware Dinnerware set in the “Urban Black” pattern. The original set was bought in circa 2005 from a retail store. All the plates and bowls from the initial set survive; I just wanted to expand my collection.
What I like about the set: Save the mugs (I will get to them latter), they are domestically manufactured. Yes I am one of “those people”. I also like that they are lightweight and microwavable. My sets also included the snap on lid for the bowl; very convenient for small leftovers. Finally and this is just purely a matter of personal taste. I really like the “Urban Black” pattern. I find it stylish in a clean and simple sense without it being to garish.
What I dislike about the set: THE MUGS. They are awful. Besides being imported; the original set from Thailand and the recent set from China (guess Thai labor is too expensive), they taper down towards the bottom from the top creating stability issues and thus spilling. Furthermore the small handle results in knuckle contact with a potentially very hot mug. I dumped all of them off at charity shops. Finally one of the dinner plates of the BTA-MALL purchase had a cosmetic manufacturing defect (see photo) that irks me. That said the original set was perfect, as where all the Corelle dishes that were used in the household I grew up in and are still in use even though that pattern was discontinued 30 years ago!
update: I emailed Corelle shortly after receiving this product and they sent me a replacement dinner plate.
update two: I bought a second set of these off of amazon and they where perfect.

Very disappointed with the quality of this product, very delicate feels like plastic but it is glass and extremely breakable, also when I open the box one of the plates came with a design defects.

I love them
I was worried about ordering this particular set after reading some of the other reviews but fortunately mine arrived perfectly intact and with no scratches, chips, or other imperfections. I like the bold yet simple design. The coffee cups are a nice large size. The bowl is perfect for cereal, soup, or small salads. The plates are an average dinner plate size.
The plates and bowls are lightweight and a lot thinner than my other dishes set. That may sound like a negative, but I love it. It means that the dishes take up less space in the cabinets and dishwasher.

Good starter set, careful with the microwave!
This dish set looks great, though there were some small black scuff marks that I haven't been able to wash out. I think this is because the main color is white, and the dishes are stored nested, so the outside black paint rubbed against the inside of the bowls, for example. Very thing plates, so not great for microwaving - they get hot FAST. If you need a dish set in your new house though, great starter set!

Corelle for life
This dinnerware is better than expected for the low price. Corelle has always produced a quality product. The plate size seems smaller than I imagined but is not a problem. The only reason I gave it less than 5 stars is that the pattern is slightly off center on some of the plates. I am very prone to noticing this type of thing so it may not even be noticed by most people. Even so, it is not a problem and doesn't affect the use and care of the dinnerware. I don't see how you can go wrong purchasing this set, especially if you are looking for an everyday set. And doubly good for a family with children, as it is not easily broken if dropped or banged. In fact, when I was moving one of the boxes from the floor to the counter, I lost my balance and I dropped it, dishes spilling out all over the floor! Lo and behold, not one break or chip! Now that's tough!

Great addition to my kitchen!
Love this dinnerware set! The pattern (Urban Black) is so classy and will fit in with any kitchen. The plates and bowls are very light, as one would expect from Corelle. The mugs are stoneware and quite heavy. The mugs are made in China, which might be a con for you if you were looking for something completely made in the USA. I personally find the black mugs to be exactly what I need and I am excited to use them. Nothing arrived broken. (I ordered two sets) however a few dishes did arrive with very small black marks on them that I have not been able to get off. You will definitely want to run these through the dishwasher before using, not only because they're new but also because they arrive a bit greasy to the touch. Overall, I am am pleased. I love this brand and you can't beat BTA-MALL prices!

Standard Corelle ware
I needed an inexpensive set of dishes for my son at college. These are perfect. He needed dishes that were microwavable and dishwasher safe. These are standard Corelle ware. They're lightweight, microwavable, dishwasher safe and durable. I was pleasantly surprised to find the mugs were stoneware. (Now that I look back, the product description said this but I had not paid enough attention.) I really liked the mugs so I kept them for myself and sent some other mugs I had to school. The plates are just the right size. The bowls are rather small (as they are with all Corelle sets I've checked out). I sent larger bowls to school.
Except for the mugs, I would not select Corelle for everyday dishes. I personally prefer more substantial dishes for around the home. They're perfect for the college student. They'd also be perfect for picnics, camping, tail gating, etc. where you want something compact and lightweight to take along.
The reason I gave these dishes 4 stars instead of 5 was mainly the size of the bowls. That's an issue with all the Corelle sets I checked out. Also, my preference for a heavier dish played a factor. These dishes are exactly what you'd expect from Corelle; versatile and durable.

Love Corelle dishes
I have always loved Corelle dishes. I've owned this brand of dishes for over 20 years. They are light weight and there is a variety of patterns to choose from. There were many times I have dropped them accidentally and they did not break. When you have small children and still want to have nice things this brand of dishes are the best. I chose this pattern because it was simple and would match my sons new kitchen decor. In my opinion you cannot beat this brand of dishes.

Bought these for my son, because he wanted "man" dishes. These black lined dishes are perfect for him. They are really pretty and sturdy, yet very light weight. Corelle dishes are just the best in my opinion. Affordable products that always last! I have had my set for over 10 years.
