Need Some Work Before Good for Chinchillas
I bought 2 cages for my 2 chinchillas a year ago. They are not of the same sex so I have to keep them separated. I used 1/8" hardware mesh cloth to make poop guard. Home depot pine wood for the platforms, hay boxes, swings, and for covering the wire of the higher floor. PVC elbow & tee for the tubes. 6" x 6" ceramic wall tiles on the lower floor but left the center uncovered. So I can gather the poops to the middle and let them fall into a storage box beneath the wires -- only 30min clearing every week :-)
About the cage:
1. large space with good price
2. 2 layers that can be easily separated. Good for introducing new friends.
3. motile. Easy to move them and clear the floor.
4. fun for DIY lovers to design and decorate the cage
1. need something to prevent the poop, or there can be a lot on the floor around the cage...
2. the wheels and welding are vulnerable. Good on the smooth floor, but if there is a bump, the welding will easily snap.
3. newborn chinchillas can get through the wire
Generally, if you don't move the cages too often, they can last for at least a year. The wires can hold heavy platforms (my 9-pound kitten once get in. The plastic platform bent but didn't break. Wires were good). And there are a lot of space for storage. There's also a window on the top panel, so could have some add-on.

Not suitable out of the box for young rats, still great though
This cage is awesome for the price, my girls were in a cage that was probably about 2/3 the size of just one of the levels. Its a big step up for them.
Metal (they cant chew through it)
Movable wih the wheels
Fairly easy to put together with two people and a little muscle
Can separate into two cages
Very secure. (I am not sorried about our cats being able to get to your rats with hardware cloth wrapped around it. Tho they arent allowed near the cage anyways, its a little extra peace of mind)
Some of the wires were bent and when putting this thing together, things just didnt quite fit right. We had to do a lot of pulling and unscrewkng and rescrewing. Definitely have to have some patience. Craftsmanship 5.5/10
The ramps do not fit well into the hooks provided, they fall off easily.
The latches are preeetty loud if you have jumpers.
Both doors do NOT open, just one of them on each level.
Wire bottom on the cage
And, if you have rats (disregard this is you have a larger animal.) The bars are 7/8" which was big enough for two of my girls to fit through. Albeit they are not full grown, and i dont think a full grown rat could get out. Fixed the problem with some hardware cloth wrapped around and zip tied.
As for the wire bottom, i got some large foam project board (2 of them for 1$ each) and cut it to fit, lined with contact paper and tile over that.
All in all, would definitely purchase a second one as they are about half the cost of the critter nation.

Great kritter home!
Pleasantly surprised! From reading previous reviews I was afraid we'd be getting a flimsy cage that would fall down around our ferrets, but what we have a sturdy large castle for them. We were given the boys (Kodo and Podo) for free complete with a cage that was too small for two and our local pet stores didn't have anything bigger so I turned to BTA-MALL.
After reading reviews I figured some modification would be needed. I created a floor for the top level - to keep their paws from slipping through bars. I still need to modify the ramps as they are a hard plastic that my ferrets use as a slide down but have difficulty getting back up. For the first night I kept them on the top level for fear the ramps would have them stuck on the bottom level. After much inspection by me and the larger boy, Kodo - to my joy and his displeasure - I think it is suffice to say that there is not any way for them to bust out.
1) It is spacious
2) The doors are large
3) Easy to assemble*
4) The hammock that is included is actually much nicer than anticipated - not wonderful, but decent quality.
1) Hard plastic ramps make it difficult for little, clumsy ferret feet to maneuver - will take some fixing!
2) Wire cage flooring doesn't seem comfortable at all! I fixed this temporarily using the box it came in covered in fleece blanket.
3) *One of our side pieces was missing a very crucial hole. Not sure how it happened but we had to drill one to carry on putting it together.
Would have easily given this cage a 5⛤ if not for these things.
With very little knowledge and a few basic tools and materials this cage is the perfect new home for our fuzzies!
EDIT: I attached a picture of the "no slip" stuff we are trying out on the ramps!
UPDATE ON EDIT: The no slip stuff has worked like a dream!!! Now they can easily scale the ramps and its easy to clean off.

Also for Reptiles!
Fantastic cage set-up for my iguana! I know this says ferret but my reptile pet is going crazy over it!
I made some modifications:
-covered ALL sides with plexiglass to keep in more heat.
-cut middle wire shelf in half to fit large branches and other climbing objects.
The only downfall for me is that just the top and bottom Right doors open. Left side is welded shut.
Overall, it's strong, easy to modify and looks great.

Great cage for the price!
If you have read a lot of reviews on this cage, like I did, you'll know the little things that are a downside to this cage. Only the right doors open and set up would be hard to do alone, (at least in my opinion.) I've had the cage about 2 weeks and my mischief seems to be very happy! Plenty of room for them to run about. I was worried about how big this cage was, I just got a young boy rat. I was pleased to see that he didn't just slip right through the bars! Currently I have 4 male rats, 2 of which are very large, that live in this cage. I think 5 might be not be roomy enough, at least for large male rats. The cage itself is very nice looking and eyecatching. I would definitely recommend this cage for anyone wanting something big and nice but on a budget.

VERY NICE, but NOT the same cage that's in the picture!
First off, let me start by saying, please excuse any horrid typos, I'm writing this from my Android and the non-mobile version of the site is causing Swype to betray me. With all that being said let's get started with a list of pros and cons.
-Very nice looking cage, very appealing color and just overall looks, what's the word I'm looking for, well I guess "expensive".
-Extremely Sturdy, if put together and tightened correctly, this thing doesn't wobble at all.
-Very nice Ferret-Proof Doors/Locks. I love them,I cannot see how it'd be possible for a ferret to get them open if locked properly and I've met a few rather clever ferrets.
-The ramps and platforms are actually metal. They look much nicer than plastic ramps and platforms and are definitely very sturdy.
-Storage rack is extremely convenient, I like being able to put all (well, quite a bit) of my ferret supplies under the cage and out of the way.
-Two very large front doors, this will surely make cleaning very easy. I do wish both doors on each level opened, but the platforms connect to one of doors on each level, so it's not possible. Either way, it still opens very wide and it's convenient.
-Access door from the roof is nice. I mostly like it because I'm planning on getting another one of these later when my kits are older and making a tube contraption to bridge the two cages and I won't have to cut a hole in the cage.
-Has the ability to separate into two cages, which will be very handy for unexpected situations, etc. This will be very nice if you get new additions to your ferret family and the ferrets aren't all getting along to begin with.
-Removable tray for cleaning. It's very nice and easy to slide out, I won't really be using it because I'm litter training and will have linoleum covering the bottom.
-The packaging is horrid. I don't blame BTA-MALL and I know the cage is made of metal bars, but due to lack of good packaging from the manufacturer a few of my bars were bent and we had to bend them back as best we could with pliers. The cage is simply too large and heavy for me to consider re-packaging and re-sending for a replacement. However, this isn't that big of an issue, because it was only bars on the bottom pieces which I'll be custom cutting pieces of linoleum for easy clean up and they'll be covered.
-The directions were atrocious, so many times we realized that the piece we screwed in was not the right one and we had to take it off and find the right one. This could easily be solved by putting label stickers on each piece, they were already wrapped in plastic. Took us about an hour to put together.
-The door on the top, Its extremely easy to "POP" up and push over, we used pliers to make the "clamp" hold tighter, now its perfect, before clever ferrets would have easily escaped
-The ramps don't line up properly,I have horrid OCD, so this drove me insane, so again we turned to our friend Mr.Pliers, with a bit of pressure, then using the pliers to clamp the pieces tighter that were attached to the platform we managed to make it nearly perfect.
(Side note: On the ramp that bridges both cages we didn't attach the circular side to the first bar in the entrance to the second level, I believe its one or two back and it fit snugly.)
-The storage area on the bottom, while convenient, I wish the cage was a little higher up to allow more room for it, it'd make it easier to clean and my large bag of ferret food would be able to sit upright.
-Last but not least, This is NOT the same cage pictured, its very similar, but still not the same. The cage I received had metal ramps and metal platforms, definitely an upgrade in my opinion, but I thought I should mention it for those that may prefer plastic platforms.
(Side Note: Its actually rather funny, not only is the cage different than the one pictured, but the box it came in had the old version of the cage on it with the plastic platforms, not only that, but the directions were even more confusing, because they are the OLD version of the cage. Not extremely huge differences in the two, mostly frustrating when you're putting the platforms and ramps in, because you're trying to match the picture in the directions and can't.)
In my honest opinion the cage is definitely worth the money and its extremely nice. It's in our living room right now and were slowly putting hammocks and food bowls, etc in it over the next month while we wait for our two lovely kits to be old enough to come home. Definitely not an eye sore and plenty of space. If you're looking for a great deal, this is it. Be warned though, setup is a two person job, at least that's how I feel and just in case I would set aside at least an hour and a half for assembly. Regardless of the Cons listed above, I give it four stars. With a pair of pliers and a little patience this is a great buy.
(Side Note: BTA-MALL offered me a replacement because of the bent bars, I was just calling to let them know they may want to let the manufacturer know the packaging really needs to be improved. When I said "No, it's okay", they didn't take "No" for an answer and they gave me a slight discount as an apology. I love BTA-MALL, you can definitely buy without worry.)
Now I just have to decide which of the following three name sets will be perfect for my two Dark chocolate hooded brother kits.
-Cookie & Monster
-Ares & Apollo
-Scotch & Soda
Decisions, decisions, feel free to comment and give me your opinion.

At first I was very happy with the Prevue Hendryx 485 Cage. It's very big, more than enough room for my chinchillas to run around in. However, two days after I assembled it, the welding snapped on the bottom rack and the cage came tumbling down with all my chinchillas inside!!! I am very disappointed with the quality of the cage, some of the legs are completely bent under the screws!!!

and was slightly disappointed. This is not a good cage for them
I originally bought this for my two ferrets for a cage swap with my rats, and was slightly disappointed.
This is not a good cage for them, only because it's a kind of too small and my two adult male ferrets cannot fit very well through the hole leading to the bottom. Also the pan itself is a bit shallower than expected but not much of a problem.
On the other hand i ended up using this cage for my three rats and they seem to enjoy the more open bars that I can really fit my gingers through and even pet them nicely through. I had to put a flat surface on the bottom along the wire though since it look a bit painful on their feet so I would keep that in mind if you're looking into this for rats.
I have the separator so my boy is on bottom and my girls on top, so if you do that I wouldn't advise you have more than two on each level for they're own comfort.
Without it being separated i can see 5 or 6 being in one cage happily!
The plastic is a bit cheap too on the ramps and levels.
My rats are quite slender and i was actually surprised that they didn't fir through the bars, though i would not recommend for rats under 2 months without some worry they could get out.
I'm currently satisfied with the cage for my rats, but my main issue that really bothered me was that there aren't a lot of places to hang things from the ceiling since things would slide all over across the top and not stay hooked in one place unless you wanted it all pretty much in one line, hence the four stars.

highly highly highly recommend! Very well built. They've fixed all the previous complaints.
I read just about every review on BTA-MALL for this cage before buying. I was a little cautious as it said "typically ships in 1 to 2 months" and I almost bought another cage w/ Prime shipping that was twice the money. Glad I didn't. I got the cage in about 5 days. The manufacturer must read the reviews here because literally every complaint I read has been addressed with the product I got. List of items I saw were fixed;
1. The cage is double boxed and I feel very well packed. There was a tear in the outer box but none of the parts inside were damaged.
2. I thought the instructions were actually very well done. Maybe they've revised them because I had zero problems building this myself. Just look at their detailed, exploded views to make sure you're using the right piece. Make sure you get the top and the middle right because the middle floor is made for a ramp attachment.
3. The ramps are plastic and the mid platforms are plastic too. I thought I read reviews that they used to be wire.
4. I didn't notice it came with the tray on the bottom. Very nice.
5. I thought overall build quality was excellent. I actually thought as I was building it that it almost seemed like it wasn't right that I paid so little for it. I don't know how they can weld and powder coat this whole thing for the money they're selling it for. It's a bargain.
6. Our chin doesn't seem bothered by the mid level wire floor or the base floor being wire at all. It helps keep the waste in the bottom tray instead of in the cage under her feet. Only challenge I see w/ the wire mesh floors is keeping the timothy hay where she can get to it. I think we need a hay bin.
7. I didn't realize it came with a hammock! It's shown in the product image but I wasn't expecting it so that was a nice surprise!
8. It's a small thing but I really like the brushed nickel finish on the door closing hardware.
9. Casters seem like decent quality. We'll see how they hold up.
Overall I'm beyond impressed and glad I saved some money with this cage. I highly highly recommend this to anyone on the fence about it. It's a bargain for sure.

like double doors on the upper and lower platforms that ...
The cage arrived quickly, right on schedule. After reading the reviews I had visions of the box arriving tattered, with pieces strewn all over the truck they delivered it in... it was completely intact and all pieces were accounted for.
I decided to put it together when it arrived, instead of waiting for someone else to get home for an extra set of hands. It would've been easier if the directions were a little more clear (totally could've been me though!) and probably if I had waited on an extra pair of hands to help. Overall, it took a little over an hour, and it appears to be structurally sound. The locks on the doors work well, my youngest child (8) couldn't get it unlatched at first, a ferret might struggle, chinchillas- really no chance. There were a few design changes I would've made, if I was a cage designer... like double doors on the upper and lower platforms that open on both sides for easier cleaning, placing of the toys, feeders, wheel, and all other chinchilla wants, not needs... that being said, it is still easier to clean than our prior cage. I knew that it didn't do that before I ever purchased it. Just a suggestion. Hope this helps!!
