DOA - Not too cool Homedics!
I borrowed one of these from a freind and it was amazing. Worked great and really helped with some neck tension I was having for about a week. I would give this product a 4-5 star review because I have tried other products labeled as neck massagers and the one I borrowed was the best I have ever used.
Problem is when we ordered our own one on BTA-MALL it proved that the company that makes these has no quality control at all! This is the first product we have ever purchased that actually showed up DOA!!! Was pretty pissed. Whoever is in charge of testing these at their factory apparently sleeps on the job or could careless! We returned the unit with ease thanks to BTA-MALL's excellent returns policy! Thanks BTA-MALL! We still have not bought another one but MIGHT try it again in the future...just real shame the company that makes these operates the way they do with quality control...i can never respect companies that let DOA products go out.

AHHHHHHHH~How do you spell relief?~~Homedics~SP10-H
I have been looking for years for one of these type massagers that really feels good and gives relief. At last I have found it. When the price went below thirty dollars I went for it. I am so glad. It is half the cost of a massage and it produces the same results. You can move it all over the body just like two warm hands. You are in control of how much pressure you want at any point.
I have fibromyalgia and have many sore points that never release I will not say this will even totally relax them but it helps. The amount of heat is just right for me. I sit in the recliner NOT reclined and start at the neck and move it down to base of spine. I lean into it just as much as I can stand, lightly, and it is wonderful. I also like it to massage the bottoms of my feet. Having it in a small soft pillow is the best design. It makes it very versitile. those big chair mats limit you to just where they are located. This is just right.
It has a 20 min timer so if you fall asleep it turns off. This happens when using on the bottom of the feet.
I cannot say enough good about this product. I have tried so many different ones and nothing measures up to the versitility of this unit. It is also small and nice looking.

bad mistake! Price was the same but the other ...
Tried other brand prior getting this, bad mistake! Price was the same but the other brand I've got came with an extra plug for the car. I thought, for the long road trip, maybe I could use it to convince my mom who has back issues to come along. While testing the other one for less than a month, it gave up. This Homedics, however, seems to be doing the job properly. I am still cautious about the longevity of it; however, it's doing its job well and mom seems to be enjoying it. I've had other Homedics products before and they haven't really disappointed me. Truth be told, this is not top of the line or anything close to state of the art, but it will get the job done and pricing is acceptable. Giving it 4 star instead of 5 because of the design and the texture of material. It's not bad but it could use a bit improvement to modernize it a bit. Over all, good product for regular user.

So nice, I bought it twice
Recently, my shiatsu pillow that I've had for many years gave up the ghost. I immediately replaced it with the same model because I love it so much.
This is fantastic for relieving soreness after a workout. If I use it immediately after a trip to the gym or golf course, I often avoid soreness altogether. If I'm unable to use it immediately after and soreness sets in, this kneads it out. It's small and portable, so I'm thinking of getting a second one to work two areas at once.
The timer on my newer model doesn't seem to run as long as my time on the previous model. This one seems to run 10-15 minutes, whereas my old pillow would run at least 20. Not a big deal, but something I noticed.
As noted in other reviews, the massaging rotaters can get caught in the fabric if you put too much pressure in the wrong place. That's what happened to my last one. As long as you're aware of that and proceed with that knowledge, you should be OK.

Awesome for Both Neck & Back
I purchased this massage pillow 2 years ago and it still works great! Originally I only wanted it for my severe neck pain, but have also used it many times on my upper, middle, and lower back muscles. Since I tend to only use this massager when the pain gets really bad, I flip the cover over so I get a more intense massage. It's stored inside the original box in my closet, so when the pain is only mild or moderate I don't always make time to use it. Overall, I use it a few times every month.
I did a lot of research on different kinds of massagers before deciding to buy this one; this is the first shiatsu massager that I've bought. I highly recommend it to anyone for neck and/or back pain. It has the ability to give deep massages, but does so in a gentle way to prevent the muscles from becoming more painful.
My boyfriend has a few other massagers that are not shiatsu which he has used on my neck and back many times. Those other types of massagers work okay, but if I have a choice between other massagers and a shiatsu massager, I will always choose a shiatsu massager. Also, I have found with other kinds of massagers (non-shiatsu types) that sometimes the massage is too intense which causes the muscles to hurt worse. This shiatsu massager is awesome because you can control how intense of a massage you want simply by flipping up the external cover on the pillow to expose more of the massage balls (for a more intense massage; for a gentler massage leave the cover down). I keep this massage pillow inside a regular pillowcase even though it comes with a washable cover.
The automatic timer turns off after 15 minutes, but sometimes I turn it back on right away to give my neck a 30 minute massage. Then, if my back is sore, I'll start using it on my back immediately after finishing the neck. I have not had any problems with using this massager a few cycles in a row. Usually I do not use the heat setting when using it several cycles in a row because it gets warm (not hot) when using it for up to an hour at a time. The heat setting works great when I use it.
Eventually my neck pain got so bad that I had to go through an intense physical therapy program where they isolated my neck and back muscles to strengthen them. Plus, they strengthened my entire body by working out my arms, legs, and abs too. I enjoyed the physical therapy program and it helped dramatically, but afterward I started to slack off on doing the stretches so some of the pain came back. If it weren't for this shiatsu massager, I'd probably have to go back to physical therapy. I also bought a rower and started using it regularly to help with my back muscles and to improve my poor posture which is one of the two main causes of my neck and back pain.
In addition to this shiatsu massager working great, I love how I can just turn it on, sit back on the sofa, work online with my hands free, and get a ton of relief all at the same time. This shiatsu massage pillow is excellent quality, it gives awesome massages that aren't too rough nor too gentle, and it gives me a lot of relief from extremely sore muscles fast. I look forward to it lasting many more years.

I rolled a small blanket over my Mckenzie roll to give a little extra cushion and it's perfect. Again
This was one of the many quick fixes that I purchased thinking it would heal my neck pain. After many years I realized that I was only treating the symptoms and not the root cause of the problem. This massage pillow was basically worthless to me for alleviating my pain. I suppose this device is okay for a little tension, but if your posture is not correct, then Nothing is going to help you.
If you have chronic neck and shoulder pain with tension headaches, try adjusting your posture when you sleep, sit, stand, walk, etc. I bought a
$20 Mckenzie pillow that has done more for me than the hundreds of dollars I have spent on all the other things I bought expecting them to cure my pain. I rolled a small blanket over my Mckenzie roll to give a little extra cushion and it's perfect.
Again, this didn't work for me at all and it actually contradicts your natural posture. This may be good for some light massage, but if you experience every day pain in your neck, look into the work of Katy Bowman and check out the book "Treat Your Own Neck" if you really want to address the underlying cause of the issue instead of merely treating the symptoms.

sooo helpful for an aching back or neck!
I just bought another one of these after the one we had for a few years bit the dust, with the cover getting tangled in the gears. Our first one actually did that quickly enough that Homedics replaced it for us under warranty, and the replacement lasted for quite a while. We felt we got our money's worth, and we use it frequently (it is always plugged in near the couch!), so we immediately ordered another one. I had bought the original one for my husband as a Christmas gift, but even the kids use it!
What I like about it is that you can easily position it anywhere you need it on your back or neck. I will move it up or down as needed and just turn it back on when it turns itself off if I'm still moving it around. I rarely use the heat but that's nice to have. It's much better than the Homedics full-sized massage chair cushion that we also have but never use, because we couldn't hit just the right spot with that. It is a bit heavy so I might not take it when traveling by air, but I will certainly be bringing it along for an upcoming road trip.
I would highly recommend this handy shiatsu massage cushion (I wouldn't really call it a pillow since you can't exactly rest your head on it...ow!). Buy one as a gift and another for yourself!!

great little massager
i use this on an armchair every few days and it is very relaxing. it really gets deep into your back muscles if you put it in the right place and put the right amount of pressure. the heat setting is nice if you want to relax tense muscles. i like to move the pillow from my lower back to my mid back to the bottom of my shoulder bones and then back down. it's like the kind of massage i would give myself if i could pull my arms off my body. it's kind of a lot of work moving the pillow around, but i don't mind it for the price and control. i got this after paying $150 for a massage where i felt more pain than relaxation. i'd pick the pillow over that massage any day.
note: the pillow turns off after 15 minutes, but you can turn it back on again.
random story: one time i was using it and it turned off after 15 minutes, but i was lazy so i left it there pressed into my back for 20 minutes or so. when i got up i lost feeling in my entire lower back and butt. the feeling came back after a while, but that was scary!! i don't recommend it.

Worth the money
This little massage pillow is great. It does a good solid massage and is perfect for my back. I've even used it on my temples when I have a headache. I'm giving it 4 stars because the massager doesn't go up and down, and its kind of annoying to have to move the pillow up and down and up and down to get it to massage your whole back. It also bruised me for a few days the first time I used it, but thats because I used it for like an hour and kept it in one spot. That being said its perfect for getting knots out. I turn it sideways and it gets my shoulders, which is awesome. I also purchased the neck massager (looks like a U shape) and I have to say that this pillow is WAY better than the neck massager. I use this little pillow quite frequently and I am very happy with it so far. It doesn't replace a real massage - but it does the trick.
Oh - shipping was fast and I, as always, am happy with BTA-MALL.

Kinda bruises you
I use this for a while, bought it twice, the rollers eventually get worn in and also seems to make you bruise yourself more than relax your muscles. Feels good tho.
