So I bought this toy for my 5 y/o nephew and well.... the toy just sucks. I know this is under $25 so I am not going to bash it too much but let's just say my expectations were a bit too high after reading the product page and then receiving the box. I mean, I thought I was getting the deal of the century but this was the progression of my nephew's facial expression:
1) opens wrapper and sees box, eyes lights up with excitement as he sees the possibility of drawing a dazzling rocketship flying to an illuminated planet.
2) He CANNOT wait to start drawing on this reusable board that lights up with these magical markers.
3) He starts taking product out of the box and gets even more excited when he sees jelly stickers. He begins to peel jelly stickers but they tear apart like a head tearing off an alien's body. His mom hides the ripped jelly stickers to avoid upsetting son.
4) Takes out markers and starts drawing on the board immediately but draws on the board like chalk. Frown forms on face. He hands me instruction manual.
5) I stare at instruction manual like I am searching for a complicated word in a dictionary. A frown forms on MY face. 5 minutes later I realize I need to go obtain a screwdriver and batteries.
6) After finally completing setup, he begins drawing on board and using the pieces that come with the product. The rest of the stickers rip. Nephew says, "are these marker out of ink?" We try turning on light switch but all 3 light settings are just plain 'ol weak.
7) I say, "Oh! we need to go into the dark!" We go into a dark closet with the board and turn on the board light switches and nobody is impressed.
8) Nephew says, "I'm just gonna go play with Mom's iPad."
I will still give the product 3 stars because I am a very lenient grader and since it fulfilled my "it's the thought that counts" gifting strategy. Oh also due to the oscar winning advertising performance by Crayola. If you are buying this for your own kids, please don't.

Not worth the money, not worth anything
Wow. I should really listened to the other reviews written here about all the "glow" products. This was just terrible. The directions are nearly unreadable. Once we got it working we were all just baffled. You can't see the markers on the board-- like really can barely see them so the kids have no idea what they are drawing. So we tried to take it into a totally dark room and then it sort of worked? but it still barely showed up. none of us could figure out the point. there is this one thing you draw on the "glow board" I guess? but you only get one - so you have to keep erasing your drawing (that you really can't see) and then there are some gel like things that you can stick on it - but the kids weren't interested in it at all. So, we tried this for something like 15 minutes and that's it. The kids are done with it because there is just nothing to it. What a bummer. There was so much hype in the commercials and the kids were so excited to have it for Christmas. What a let down. I'm really disappointed in Crayola. I expect so much more for them. But I'm also disappointed in BTA-MALL for paying as much as I did. Right after I purchased these I happened to go to ToysRus for something and found them there for 1/2 the price. I'll think twice before making a purchase like this again on BTA-MALL.

Great Crayola Product
"Santa" brought this toy for our 7 year old daughter. We are a huge fan of Crayola products. She is very creative and artistic so we thought this would be great for her. Especially on the long car rides out of state to visit relatives.
I have to agree with other viewers, that it is hard to clean. I wish Crayola would have been more specific on what type of cloths to use for cleaning. So far, we have used the cloth handy wipes that you can get at any store in the cleaning aisle. They don't leave the little fuzz's behind like the baby wipes. We use a slightly damp one first, then a dry one second. This is sort of a pain because I have to wash them right away so she has them for the next time. I am contemplating buying some of those computer wipes to clean the plastic screens, but I am afraid that will get costly.
Besides the cleaning aspect this toy is great and our daughter loves it.

Five Stars for the Crayola Color Explosion Glow Board.
Fun and great glow board to draw on for anyone to enjoy. Especially to be able to switch between the front screen, the back screen both one at the same time and then sort of animated. The screens switch back and forward making the drawings become active.

Great way to express creativity in a new way
I have two girls (6 and 3), and they each have a glow board. It's a great thing to have when they're playing and creating on their own. Because of the two layers, on which they can create/draw, plus the glowing aspect, it really allows them to do a lot of fun and different things, unlike other creative-type projects. It's easy for them to use around different rooms in the house, and is easy to wipe off. They've only had it for a few weeks, so hopefully we won't be losing any of the special markers. All in all, a great thing to do on your own.

Good for kids of all ages.
I got this for my Niece's 4th birthday. While it isn't super bright, it still works well. She enjoys using it and Kids will too.

Honestly... I thought this would be a great gift for my nephews. It felt really cheaply made and you could barely see the colors. I don't recommend it.

Kids love it - But the markers don't last long.
We got the Glowboard for my six-year-old daughter's birthday. And she loves it. Unfortunately, so does her three-year-old brother - so lots of fighting. It's pretty easy to use (I suggest watching the promotional video on Crayola.com as the instructions aren't particularly helpful. My main problem with the Glow Board is the quality of the markers. The tips flattened very quickly and they've already started to run dry. And I can only find refills from Crayola.com - no one else carries them. Overall, it's a good value, especially since the cost has dropped $10 in just the last couple of months.

A little cheap, but much better than stated by others.
Bought this for the same price in november for my daughters 6th birthday. Thing is really cool and works well. Don't worry about the bad reviews, those parents obviously never actually play with their kids and figure out their toys. The markers do look very dry when you first start, but turn out the lights and turn it on and it shines very bright. The only problem with it was I got what i paid for, one trip and a fling across the room and the black lights no longer worked(it hit a cushion and fell on carpet). It was fun while it worked, the animation between the two screens is great fun, and really sparks imagination.
