Works well, minus a star for all the plastic
At first I thought that the plastic was flimsy but it works well with my M1A. I think you will need to be careful not to tighten the knobs too much as the bolt looks like it could pull thru. It really can adjust to fit about anything. I wanted something that could hold my M1A upside down and it does that well.

Pretty good vise, wouldn't say it's the best, but I haven't found a better one.
I purchased this as my Christmas and it works pretty good holding a variety of rifles. I haven't configured it for a pistol yet. Bought the Wheeler AR adapter as well. The overall weight is a little lighter than I expected. The overall rigidity of the vice is adequate but not quite what I expected. Granted I never saw one in a store before so I bought it blind. I just expected a little bit more robustness to it. Will hold up for recreational use but not built for constant use.

A bit pricey for what you get, but I have to admit it does do the job. The design is functional and it can withstand the force of a lapping tool being used on a mounted rifle. The longer side of the forearm rest comes in handy with an AR or even a break open trap gun. 4 stars because of the price.

Necessity for gun owners
Great for multiple platforms. I use it to clean all my rifles and also to hold everything in place when mounting scopes. Better than using a bench vise or some sort of improvised holder. Seems like a basic tool that most gun owners should have on their shelves.

This vise is as good as advertised and better. Easy to asymbol, light weight but very durable. Well constructed and is designed for all of your gunsmithing needs. Highly recommend for both novices and experienced gun projects.

Amazing product for the money. Works on many firearm platforms. Helps a ton with cleaning. Only gripe, a small one, is that sometimes the gold isn't as tight as I'd like 4.5 stars!

Not great, barely usable.
I have to admit that the vise does hold the gun after you get it adjusted. However, adjusting this thing is a real pain. When you try to loosen the adjustment knobs, the knob falls off in your hand and the unit falls apart. If you try loosening minimally so that the knob doesn't fall off, you can't slide the adjustments and have to loosen more...lose lose.
It does hold the gun ok but not great after you finally manage to get it adjusted. I recommend looking for something better or making something.

Not a vise
This is not a vise. I cannot get a single one of me AR rifles to firmly sit is the flexible movable so-called jaws on the rear of this thing. It is fine for placing a rifle on to clean, but is it not a vise. A vise is a " tool with movable jaws that are used to hold an object firmly in place while work is done on it, " This thing is made from cheap plastic. When you try to tighten an AR mod stock in this thing the rear components flex so the red circular moving round pads cannot hold the sock firmly. Leave it to say I am disappointed.

Best Gun Vise is 100% accurate
This is the best tool for all my cleaning and adjusting needs. It is totally adjustable and will fit any normal size hand or rifle in your inventory. The tool is easy to assemble and made of high quality plastic. I used it as soon as I got it and it made cleaning and adjusting much easier. I highly recommend you spend the extra money for this complete tool, you won't be disappointed.

A MUST HAVE FOR AR OWNERS!!
This is the second gun vise I've bought from Tipton. The first one was the "plain" Tipton vise which served its purpose for working on standard stocked rifles and shotguns BUT not worth a flip on any rifle that has a pinned upper and lower. The Tipton "Best Gun Vise" is great for working on my FAL, H&K 91-A2, AR-15s and my tactical stocked bolt rifles that were just to long for the basic Tipton vise. Yes it's made out of plastic as some of the reviewers seemed to complain about that. But it's not really lightweight plastic and it seems to be reinforced where it needs to be. The aluminum center channel is a nice addition and gives you a broad range of applications on positioning those "problem" guns. I made four "drop pins" and removed the rubber feet and drilled matching holes in my workbench so I wouldn't tip the thing over with a rifle mounted in it. Plus if I want to take it to the range it's easy to pull the pins and throw it in the car and I carry a 1" ratcheting tie down strap to secure the vise to the shooting tables. Sounds like a lot of extra trouble, don't think so, I've already seen one nice AR bounce off the concrete at the range because the vise it was in got bumped and fell off the shooting table!! One thing I did buy to go with the vise was the "Wheeler Delta Series mag well vise" which works great with the Tipton vise. I already have an upper and lower receiver block but unless you carry a vise around in your pocket the plain lower block is worthless at the range.
