This review considers approximately two years of regular use of the Ibera PakRak Bicycle Quick-Release Commuter Trunk Bag.
The Ibera bag and rack are well designed and, for the most part, durable. The rack can be installed easily and securely to the bike's seat post. Remember to use a little grease (Vaseline will do) on the bolt thread that clamps the rack onto the seat post else you will find that the bolt will rust and break if you need to remove or adjust the rack in the future.
* Excellent Design. The snap clip that secures the bag to the rack is great! There are several zip compartments of varying sizes to assist in sorting one's keys, money, bike parts, etc. The reflective material on the sides and back of the bag improve safety by improving visibility at night.
* Good Value. While not cheap, the cost will be justified over time due to the advanced design and quality materials and workmanship.
* Appearance. It will be perceived as a high quality, intelligently designed bike accessory.
* Health. If you, like me, spend a lot of time sitting and began using a college backpack for bike cargo, then do yourself a favor and replace the backpack with a rack/trunk bag. Protect your healthy spine, you'll miss it when it's gone.
* Rear Strap. While the shoulder strap is nice you'll likely find that the inconvenience of having to attach and remove it from the bag will relegate its use to special situations. Most of the time, I found myself carrying the bag by the hand strap at the rear of the bag. THIS IS A MISTAKE! If you use this strap it will, over time, break. Exposure to sun and rain combined with the stress of the weight of your cargo will cause the strap's stitching to deteriorate and break. If/when this happens you will lose not only the strap handle but also the rear reflective material.
* Customer Service. The rear strap broke after about 11 months of use. Ibera support was not available for a warranty claim but BTA-MALL's exceptional customer service picked up the slack (i.e., replaced the bag).
The Ibera PakRak is an excellent value below $75. Buy it from BTA-MALL and don't use the hand strap.

Great purchase - Happy Camper
I bought this as well as the Ibera Clip-on Quick Release Panniers and their RA-5 rack as a set. I just spent my work bonus on a new bike and needed to gear it up. These bags came earlier than expected and they're solid top to bottom. The install of the rack on my Giant Roam 2 (2015) took all of ten minutes on the rack and the bags fit perfectly. On and off in less than 60 seconds for all three.
There was some amount of shift in the panniers on the rack, but that's fixed easily by moving the bottom clip all the way to the back of the rack. No movement whatsoever after that. I have size 13 feet and my heels don't hit them when I cycle at all.
Sidewise the panniers aren't the biggest, but they'll work great for commuting and a light grocery run. If I had any plans of getting a ton of groceries it won't work so much.
Overall a solid purchase. Little expensive, but there are going to last me.

Perfect as a compact gym bag or trail bag.
I have to command this company for this product. I use it as the perfect gym bag ( if you use Dri Fit clothes a micro fiber drying towel). I ride 3.5 miles to the gym to very my cardio in and I build up my upper in the gym. I have my miniature deodorant, toothpaste, mouthwash and etc..Bike lock and gym lock.
When I hit the trails, I keep my a pair of thermal running pants in side pouch and a Dri Fit Thermal shirt in the other. On
inside I have my food in a 10x8' Thermos® insulated bag, 16oz. stainless steel Thermos® Fun Tainer with an ice pack and a small Thermos container with fruit and an extra 20oz. water bottle. In the rear pouch I carry 2 power pacs for charging my phone and IPod nano with a retractable USB cable and room for my Android cell phone when needed to charge. The Top pouch is great for my wallet, hand sanitizer,etc..and the top bungee cord is great for securing my Wolf Bike Thermal bicycle jacket, I forgot that I also keep my bicycle gloves in the side pocket also.
on 2016-04-25 Perfect combination of security and size and convenience
Great trunk bag which is a perfect combination of security and size and convenience. This back securely attaches to my Ibera Bicycle Seatpost-mounted Commuter Carrier IB-RA1
(obviously) but also offers the space I need for carrying my essentials (like my insulated lunch bag) and the misc extras I keep to make my commute easier (like a bike tools) The reflective handle and carrying strap are perfect for when I need to take the bag with me and the rear loop was perfect for adding a clip-on rear light. The hard bottom shell also makes for a perfect splash guard on those wet, raining commutes.

everything about this seemed to be perfect. It fit perfect on the bike
I have used this product for a few months now. everything about this seemed to be perfect. It fit perfect on the bike. carried what I needed, was easy on and easy off. one draw back was attaching a light to the back- the strap that might be used was not easily used; HOWEVER- the seam on the zipper on the back pocket came undone - making that pocket useless. It leaves it flapping in the wind and a major pain in the butt. I started using this in the beginning of the spring/summer. It should last longer than 4 or 5 months

I can't say enough good things about this bike trunk
I can't say enough good things about this bike trunk. I use it in combination with an Ibera PakRak rear rack. Actually, I bought two of that rack, one for my road bike, one for my winter hybrid bike. It's extremely easy to mount/unmount this trunk to either bike. I also remove the trunk for transporting and/or storing my bikes.
I know other reviews have complained about the latching mechanism and experiences with the plastic latching mechanism breaking. That doesn't match my experience with this product. Maybe, over time, the manufacturer has improved the latching mechanism? Better plastic? I don't know. (If so, I kinda wish they'd admit that publicly and maybe tag the improved product as version 2).
I've easily got over 2,000 miles and over 60 separate rides with this trunk. Zero failures and it's been extremely reliable in every way.

This Is an AWESOME Trunk Bag!!!
I recently got a Kent Dual Drive Tandem for my birthday from my wife. We are planning on using the bike to go on some longer rides on a few different paved bike paths in the area. I wanted to get a nice rack and trunk type bag for the back of the bike to make it easier for us to carry some of the things that we would typically want to take with us, like cell phones, car keys, a few extra drinks, some snacks, and maybe a sweatshirt for my wife.
I ended up going with one of the Ibera PakRak compatible racks, and then I got this Quick Release Trunk Bag.
The bag is awesome. It's got a solid plastic (looks like carbon fiber) bottom so that if you set it down on the grass or in some water it's not going to actually get the bottom of the bag wet. There's plenty of room inside of it for the types of things that we'll be taking with us on our rides, and quite a few different pockets. I like that it has a handle on the "back" of it so that you can more easily carry it around by hand when it's not on the bike. It also includes a nice shoulder strap so that you could carry it like a messenger or duffel bag if you needed to carry it longer distances.
The quick release system on this bag works really well. It is on the bike in a second, and off in two seconds. It fits securely on the rack and I'm not worried at all about it coming loose or falling off while I'm out on the bike.
I ended up getting another rack for my mountain bike so that I can carry this bag on that bike as well, I like it so much.
It's REALLY nice to be able to have one bag that you can easily move from bike to bike without having to unhook a bunch of straps or tie downs. I will probably end up getting another rack for my road bike, just so that I can use this trunk bag on that bike as well.
Overall, I really like this bag, and when coupled with the PakRak racks, it's a really nice system.

Roomy, well-constructed, and versatile, it's still definitely not a shoulder bag.
Clips on securely to the Ibera PakRak bike rack. Once it's on there, it's not coming off by accident.
Roomy, stores a pretty sizable amount of stuff. I wouldn't want to make a weekly grocery run with it, but it packed a change of clothes very well, shoes included. Lots of straps and pockets and whatnot for putting what you need where you need, and the main compartment is super roomy.
Construction seems to be really good, too. I mean, I wouldn't trust this thing to survive having the crap beat out of it on the daily, but since it spends ~90% of its life on the back of my bike, it has held up very very well.
The included shoulder strap is not something I use very often, though it has come in handy a few times. That said, this pack is definitely designed to be on the back of your bike, not slung over a shoulder. It's far from the most comfortable thing I've carried around, though it's not like it's got razor blades cutting in to you every time it moves, either. It suffices.
Combined with their panniers, you can carry more than you'd likely ever want to with this system. Unless you're doing a long-haul tour, in which case you'll like want more bags and whatnot to carry all your stuff. But for a daily commuter, it's solid. Would buy again.

Well made, super functional and a great value
This bag is the bomb. I got a matching Ibera rack making it super easy to hook on and off the bike. I adapted a Bontrager rack to work with the quick release as well. The quick release is great for taking all valuables with you into a convenience store or restroom. It holds the bag solidly, I have never had it shift or come loose. The side compartments are great for quickly organizing and accessing tools, wallet, first aid gear etc. The rear compartment holds a phone perfectly. The top has multiple zip compartments for holding maps, rags, extra gloves, bandanas etc. It has a draw string bungee on top that is great for shedding outer layers or a helmet. The main compartment holds a fair amount of stuff including extra water and energy bars or other items needing quick access on the trail. It is reasonably water proof but get the matching rain cover to make it completely rain resistant.
I have made several multi day rides with this bag. It is holding up well, no complaints. The quick release can gunge up with road grit, especially on wet trails, and has required the occasional cleaning and shot of spray lube to keep it working smoothly.

Great Build, Great Quality, Great Value
Perfect fit for my Ibera rack. I purchased this because I needed a pack for my longer rides. However, I do not like bulk, so I started with the rack which I loved because of its slim-line design which looks good on a 26-inch road bike. This pack was a little larger than I expected, but it is lightweight and has plenty of great storage areas. I love the fact that even fully loaded, it does not throw my bike off balance and I barely notice its even there. Construction is fantastic. It is well-made and quite durable. Pops on and off of the rack with ease and is easy to carry thanks to the handle across the back (pictured). If you are looking for the right bike pack, this is the one. Don't forget to first check out the matching rack
