A wonderful vacuum bottle
After a recommendation I got from a video blog, I checked this out. I read the 1 ad 2 star reviews first (as always) and the comments to these reviews. I determined that the main problem was the blue silicone seal in the cap splitting and needing replacement. Replacement seals are available from Thermos for a moderate cost. I also found out that the seals were splitting prematurely because users were cranking down on the top too hard. The excellent seal only needed to be turned slightly past contact to fully seal, some users were getting several years out of the Thermos with no problems at all. I ordered it, it came quickly, and I love it. Opens with one hand, easy to drink from, closes with one hand. Nice easy to grip rubber cover wrapped around the middle, fits most car cup holders, easy to clean the cap and inside. Keeps ice for a very long time (more than overnight). A friend fills it with ice and water in the morning. As he drinks the water during the day he pours in more cold water in the remaining ice. This Thermos provides him ice water all day long and at the end of the day there is still some ice left. Very nicely designed. Has a latch to prevent accidental opening. NOT FOR HOT DRINKS, YOU CAN SCALD YOUR MOUTH BECAUSE THIS IS NOT A SIPPING BOTTLE. However, it will keep warm drinks warm, just don't drink hot drinks out of it. I love it and am glad I got this. Just remember, DO NOT TIGHTEN THE CAP VERY TIGHT, OR YOU WILL DAMAGE THE SEAL PREMATURELY. The color of the stainless steel bottle is a very deep purplish-blue, so dark it looks black in subdued light. But it looks great. NOTE: NOT FOR CARBONATED DRINKS, THE PRESSURE FROM CARBONATION CAN MAKE THIS BOTTLE LEAK PAST ITS SEAL.

Better than most.
This bottle is all its advertised to be.
It's perfect for my daily water bottle.
The stainless steel certainly does not impart any off flavor or odor into the water like plastics do.
The only thing it's missing is a carry loop.
I used two electrical cable ties (Ty-Raps) to make a loop that makes it easy to carry with one finger.
I am very satisfied with all the other features.

Best bottle bar none.
This is the best insulated water bottle available that I've seen, with the best balance between ease of use, with the one handed cap release, ability to clean with no hidden crevices that would be difficult to access, slim rubberized grip for secure holding, locking bail to prevent inadvertent release inside a bag, and covered spout that won't get dirty when in transport.
The lid comes off for wide mouth access to easily drop in ice cubes.
The seal holds under high pressure but care should be taken not to go overboard tightening it, as the seal can be damaged if someone goes ape on it. The narrow rim will give a tight seal on the silicone sealing ring with minimal force; you can test it by putting hot water in it and lightly tightening the cap, and you can see how little force is needed to properly seal it. Push the button and the top will pop like a champagne cork with the built up pressure.
If the lid doesn't pop open on its own, pull off the silicone peg used as a spring, and reinstall it, to get the air pressure in it that assists in the spring action. The one I got would only open with a feeble action until I did this, and now it pops open the way it should.
Be careful cleaning it when rinsing the cap vigorously, as it may dislodge the cap into the sink, and if you're not aware of it, the cap will no longer seal next time you use the bottle.
The rubber grip can sometimes slide if you let water get underneath it when washing, allowing the layer of water to act as a lubricant. You can remove it and dry it off fully, then roll it back into place to restore the grip.
While it's reasonably rugged and will survive accidental drops, if you drop the bottle on its head while full, you can break the cap, so don't flip it around with abandon. I've got some dents on the bottom when dropped also, but luckily it didn't impair performance of the insulation.
The newer styles of this bottle are not as good as this one, SS bail latch on this one is a better design.

Love the product, not crazy about the durability
Have been using these Thermos bottles for several years now for kids bringing to school They definitely do the job for keeping liquids cool and don't sweat like other insulated bottles when storing liquids with ice cubes. Perfect sized opening to drink out (not a fan of the straw type for normal (non-workout) use. My biggest challenge with them is durability of the lids. On each one we have purchased (4 to date) every lids breaks down at some point, either the metal hoop which locks the lid down when not using, or the entire plastic cap itself. One child (who treats his bottle more roughly than the other) has had his get knocked of a desk twice and each time the lid has cracked, either at the hinge or the entire cap itself has split. Would be exceedingly happy if the lids were made more durable as the design and rest of the bottle itself is great. If you take better care of the bottles and don't drop or put them through any type of strain, then could not highly recommend them.

The best thermos out there!
I've tried many products to keep my coffee hot throughout the day. Thermos brand are the only ones that work for me. I had this thermos before, but over time, the gasket wore out and it got very beat up. This was because I used it so much! I have another thermos but the design is different and this is by far my favorite. I love how the lid closes and snaps shut. There's also a metal lock to keep it extra secure. You can literally put this thermos in your bag, tote bag, whatever, and it will not leak. You press the button and the lid pops open allowing you to drink from it. Whether you use this for hot or cold, it is the best thermos product I've ever tried, and I will buy again. I believe it recommends using this to keep drinks cold, but I have found over the years I've used it, it is excellent at keeping your coffee hot so you can sip it throughout the day.

Leaking after 6 months
This bottle worked great at first. But after 6 months of normal use, it started leaking. I checked the bottle and found that the blue gasket inside the cap is cracked. I'll upload a photo if I can find out how to. I contacted thermos' customer service at email@example.com. They replied that removable parts are not covered under the warranty after 30 days, which is ridiculous. If they expect that the gasket would probably fail after 30 days and make the whole bottle useless, what's the point of them offering 5-year warranty on the body of the bottle?
They do sell the gaskets for $1 each plus S/H but I have yet to find out how much the S/H would be. There's no way you can find a replacement gasket unless you contact their customer service department. I think I won't be the first or the last person to have this problem. Why wouldn't they make this easier and sell the gaskets separately on their website as accessories? Also I think this is definitely a design flaw or quality glitch. I expected better products from a name brand like Thermos.
Edit: finally found out how to add the photo.

It fits the drink holder....however....
I bought this size bottle specifically to fit the drink holder in the older Lexus we just bought. Fits perfectly and is easy to get a quick drink from while in the car. Keeps drinks cold for hours.
Revised review (8/13/17) Although I love that this bottle fits my drink holder and keeps cold for many hours, I am so disappointed that the top has already created a leak. After you tilt the top to take a drink, liquid collects in the top. Then when you hold the bottle upright liquid trickles down the sides. I have always hand washed the top. Perhaps the sun beating on it through my car window deformed the seal on the top? I will now have to look for a drink bottle with a simpler top, so I don't run into this problem again.

Coffee all down the front of my white dress! Do all vacuum insulated bottles have o ring issues?
I had purchased the Thermos E5 mug, and despite having an issue with the O ring popping off after just 3 months, I love the mug... BUT, in order to add ice to my coffee on days I wanted it cold I had to crush my ice... so I decided to get another Thermos with a wider mouth. Plus I like to carry cold water with me so I thought this would be a really great purchase decision.
Well, just 1 WEEK after receiving my new bottle, I fill it with ice coffee, go to take a drink and ice coffee starts streaming out all around the rim of the cover, all over the front of my white dress!
As I tried to unscrew the top to see what was going on, the leaking just got worse as there was coffee all inside the gap between the cap and the actual bottle. (the bottle was completely upright, coffee someone dripped into the empty space and the only way it was going to come out was to unscrew the top and let it all leak out down the sides of the bottle)
I looked inside and the o ring (seriously? what is the deal with Thermos and o rings?) was out of its seating. The seating is actually just a spot where it sits, there is nothing holding it in! I came here to see if perhaps there was a piece missing from my cap that was meant to hold the o ring in but I instead found several reviews with the same issue.
I guess I should have known better... I saw all of the great reviews, didn't see anything about leaking issues and wrongly assumed that this bottle had all the good stuff of the e5 without the one flaw.
I am very disappointed.
Do other vacuum insulated bottles have this same issue?
I already tossed the box and had decided to keep it even though it has a dent on the bottom as perfection isn't that big of a deal to me... but being a dribble cup is kind of a deal breaker.

Great design and keeps my water ice cold
Keeps my drinks cold for hours. I fill it with ice water overnight and the ice is still there in the morning. Whats really nice is that the lid pops open using only one had, this is handy while driving. This is better than the screw top ones that require two hands. It is spill proof as the design works well. The drinking nozzle allows you to completely cover the opening with your mouth so there is no chance of spilling on the sides like the other designs. This is great if you are walking, running or making a turn in your car. The only worry is that the top is plastic and feels a bit flimsy as well as the little metal spring in the hinge. I have two of these, one I have used almost daily for 6 months and it has held up to great so far. I have several thermal water bottles from Zojirushi, Stanely, Coleman, Hydro flask, Nalgene and I still prefer this one. All are good at keeping water cold but the key is the ease of use and realiability. I paid twice as much for the Hydro Flask but the lid needed two hands to open and then broke off. The Nalgene was lighter, but is made of plastic and no thermal protection. The Zojirushi's nozzle was a hole that emptied onto a shelf where you put your mouth, this spilled over on the sides if you moved. This Thermos design is the best and is my go to thermos. It has saved my several hundred plastic water bottles and keeps my water ice cold. I would buy again.

Medium size that keeps cool for a long time and fits in a standard cup/can holder
I was only drinking about 1/2 of my 32oz Nathan water bottle per day so I decided to look for something mid size and found this on daily deals for $12. I really like the quality of the Nathan bottles although did want some insulation as well.
This thermos 18oz keeps my drink cool for hours. It fits well in traditional cup holds and the lid/cap are designed well.
I read that some folks are having issues with the blue cap seal, apparently Thermos sells replacements for $1, I just don't crank the lid on too tight as I could see how the top of the bottle could eventually cut in to the seal.
The only downsize is that I have been drinking way more water since I got this, I end up filling it 3 times a day.
Over-all this is a great insulated mid size container and I'm glad I bought it.
