Bose® A20 Aviation Headset Battery-powered
Great Aviation Headset but doesn't behave well when battery is dead. It produces a humming sounds that knocks you out of communication. While inflight this could be devestating especially in rotorcraft. I had to land on the beach since i couldn't announce myself to tower on my cross country flight training. This is after busting one airspace on my way back to my base airport. Luckily my instructor left his Bose headset and after being with him on the phone and trying several things i resorted to trying his on headset. I'm not sure that i could have done the same in a fixed wing situation, especially, while I wasn't proficient nor confident to try light signals with tower. I notified Bose on my experience and my conclusion and was told that they would look into that. Great company and tech support i'm sure they'll find a way to bypass active mode into passive mode without this glitch. I making sure now to shut them off after landing, and to have extra batteries in their case. Big concern only when solo pilot and no one is there with you for tech support.

Not worth $1000 in my opinion
Actual use of these is great. Noise cancellation isn't perfect, but it is good. Not sure I'd say it is $1000 good.
Bluetooth is ok, I use it to play music from my phone on long flights sometimes (just have to download an app that makes your phone transmit the sound in mono instead of stereo). But the quality is poor at best and if I really want good music, I plug in the aux cord...which then makes it a wire nightmare in the cockpit.
Extremely bulky battery box which chews through AA batteries. Battery box also looks cheaply made, the seams don't line up and I always wonder if the cover holding the batteries in is going to pop off.

Spendy but ....
... like anything in aviation, you get what you pay for. I'm not going to get into a debate about which noise canceling headsets are better, but I own a couple of these and here's what I've found: The A20 is a lightweight, comfortable headset that allows long missions with minimal discomfort. I use them in my warbird with a massive power plant out front, and I use them in my GA aircraft. They are well built and backed by a solid 5 year (transferable) international warranty which I recently had occasion to test. I found Bose Europe standing by their sterling reputation with an immediate no-questions-asked replacement of my defective component. What else? I have the bluetooth option and use it frequently to make low earth orbit telephone calls to close flight plans, coordinate pickups, order pizzas to the hangar and More. Super handy and the voice control option keeps your hand on the stick when you need to access your phone book. If you've got the scratch, these babies will not disappoint.

Not appropriate for long duty day airline ops
I'm very disappointed to report that these otherwise nice headsets, which are made in the USA are simply too hard on your head for 10+ hour airline duty.. Unless you're one of those guys that can wear the "headclamp" type DC headsets without discomfort, look into something more light weight like the Sennheisers.
The workmanship is good, they are a bit on the plasticy side, but otherwise well made, and if you're going to be flying something like a King Air or small Twin, they're great... but they work so well in an airline cockpit that you won't hear your copilot talking unless you use intercom, which most airlines don't..
Anyway, that's my take on it. Wish Bose would make a ligher weight airline version.

Stunning Noise Reduction
I went from an old, rather inexpensive pair that I have had since my flight training days to this headset and the difference is almost disturbing. The noise canceling makes the engine disappear. Other sounds, like the stall warning are consequently clearer than ever. It takes getting used to. The audio in feature and blue tooth connection are an added bonus, and thanks to the side tone the phone is remarkably easy to use, even with the engine running. What a great feature for closing flight plans and getting clearances. Radio and intercom calls from others are clear as a bell, and my friend said there is a noticeable difference in the quality of transmission. Overall... It is expensive, but so are hearing aids so it is a worthwhile investment. You won't be disappointed.

perfect item except...
it is a perfect item. I like it very much but the only an important thing that I complain it is really heavy. during long flights toching points to my head give me head pain so ı need to change position of it almost in every 15 minutes. bose company should find a solution for this problem. most of the pilots in my company don't want to buy this product just beacuse of this problem. other than this it is a perfect head set. best regards hakan taskesen

Comfortable, quiet and connected
Not sure if there is anything else to say about these headsets that hasn't already been said. They are simply fantastic! Comfortable for longer flights, very quiet and have bluetooth and a phone jack to connect to your phone if you need that. Full disclosure: I have not tried any other ANR headsets but the price of the leading competitors is roughly the same and Bose has been around a long time and will likely be around for a long time. Excellent aviation headset.

These are the best headsets ever. Very comfortable, clear sound quality, excellent noise reduction. I use these with the two prong adapter utilizing batteries. Battery life seems to be around 10 hours. However, utilizing the LEMO plug in aircraft so equipped, that is a non issue.

Bose headsets have a great reputation. Many of my friends have these headsets and I have used theirs. So, I had to buy a set. I am very satisfied. My only issue is that the price is "fixed" for no competitive pricing.
