These are pretty awesome. We have one in the basement, on the first floor, and one on the second floor. The programming is fairly simple? I installed three of these and three carbon monoxide detectors. The whole process probably took about an hour. When they go off they go off sequentially and they tell you where the problem is. I like them, and my small children understand that. That's exactly what I needed

Protects you from fire, feels like it causes hearing damage
I'm sure this is good fire protection but the setup is an absolute nightmare. You have to do multiple configuration steps on each one in the correct order, using only one button to control it--all while they blare instructions and settings at you at a deafening volume. Of course you have to hold it in your hand while pushing the button. I know having an outrageously loud alarm is safer for someone with hearing loss, which so many Americans do now, but I think these alarms are DANGEROUSLY loud to set up. I gave up before I managed to program a location into the second one and yet my ears are painfully ringing hours later. They should have a set-up mode or include hearing protection in the package for set-up.

Won't connect! Update to original review.
I'm going to have to give this one star. I have spent over an hour trying to get two of them to connect up. It just isn't going to happen. In the directions it tells you to hold down the test button to connect it to a second detector (light is blinking on the second detector) but all it does is go through the test mode.
I returned the first two I bought and BTA-MALL shipped me two replacements. It took all of five minutes to connect the new ones and have them up and running. The first two must have been defective.

Noisy and echoing all over the house when you test. Be prepared to plug your ears!
Wow. Test one of these and plug your ears. The entire house goes off as they each sound off. My city inspector loved it!
They were easy to mount. There is an instruction about how to mark out the holes that I found to be a bit confusing. So I just held them up, took a sharp pencil, and marked the outermost holes on opposing sides. Just keep in mind that when you choose 2 holes to use, they need to be directly opposing, and positioned such that when you place the mount over them and "twist" it into position, they are actually going to work with each other.
WARNING: I did notice that once you mark them and drill them and put in your screws, the mount needs to be re-positioned in the same orientation as when you marked it. In other words, the holes are slightly offset from the edges a bit differently. Put it up right, and it slides into place. Put it up 180 degrees off, and it seems like you drilled them wrong. The 2 I got wrong I forced, until the 3rd of the 6 I realized what I had done.

Best and Reliable CO/Fire/Smoke Detector
The First Alert CO/Smoke/Fire detector is as good as all of the OneLink family. Installation and setup was very easy. The only thing that you need to keep in mind that it will not alert CO to the smoke/fire detectors in the OneLink network, only Smoke/Fire will be triggered in all of them. I currently have 2 F/S and 1 CO/F/S

easy to install
Ease of installation: easy to install. To all those who reported issues, all I can say is RTFM! We read the instructions several times, followed them to the letter, and everything went perfectly. We got the 6-pack,installed the bases, connected them all to each other and named them, and installed them all on their bases. It gets kind of loud when you test each one once they are all connected, but it's worth it to test. This is one time you need to put up with the inconvenience of loud noises because the alternative is not pleasant! All in all, I'd buy again. Just hope they never go off!

Watch videos for programing help
I have 5 of these units installed and interconnected in my house They are very easy to install even on horse hair plaster lathe walls. Before you try to program them watch the videos on YouTube. They really make the programing easy.

They worked wonderful, very easy setup and install
Received them the same day. They worked wonderful, very easy setup and install. Only issue was the AA Batteries were dead. No big deal, Got new batteries and they were perfect. The two Smoke/Co2 alarms were wrapped in shrink wrap. The onelink feature is fabulous. You can specify the Voice to the install location. It one alarm goes off, they both go off, including which location. Also on the Co2 side it gives you the specific Co2 reading in ppm. My old smoke/Co2 alarm kept going off with the oven on. With the First Alert SCO500B (Series SCO500) ONELINK I get no false alarms. So if I have any issues I react faster because I don't think it a false alarm. These are MUST HAVES!!
I would give them 10 stars if I could.

The product works great. It's loud
The product works great. It's loud. Very loud. The seller on the other hand apparently doesn't get emails from BTA-MALL. I ordered six of these bad boys totalling $287 and some change. They arrived shortly after (June 19). Five were perfect. One was not. One was missing the metal piece inside the battery compartment that makes contact with the battery to complete the circuit. I contacted the seller on June 20. Today is July 19th.. not a peep. No big deal. We ordered another from a different seller. Works fine. I'm not going to take a away from the product because of the seller. The product is great and deserves 5 stars.

Love having all my units linked in the house
Very easy install and setup is a breeze. I've got these in the bedrooms and other places that I need to sniff for carbon monoxide, and their smokes in other rooms, and they all link together!
