on 1969-12-31 Highest output current AND battery capacity among all '5600mAh' units I have tested
My main reason for buying this Jackery Bar 5600mAh Portable Power Bank
is because it advertises '2.1A Output'. I already own several Power Bank units in the 5000-5600mAh range, but none of them is powerful enough to satisfy my Barnes & Noble NOOK HD+ Tablet
which demands 2A of charging current (if it cannot get 2A, it falls back to 0.5A instead). This Jackery power bank unit, however, is able to charge the Nook HD+ at full speed without any problems.
The Jachery power bank has an aluminum casing that looks elegant and feels sturdy. It is slightly larger and heavier than my two other power banks units with identical capacity ratings: the EC TECHNOLOGY 5600mAh
and the PowerBot PB5600
. See the photo I unloaded to 'Customer Images' section for size comparison.
I tested the battery capacity of this power bank unit, by connecting a 5-ohm power resistor to its USB port. The unit is able to produce a well-regulated 4.92V at 0.95A (output power=4.67W) for 254 minutes. The total output energy is therefore 19.8Wh, which is consistent with the '5600mAh' capacity rating (3.7V * 5.6Ah = 20.7Wh, minus power conversion loss). In contrast, my other two '5600mAh' power bank units did not perform as well:
- The EC Tech unit delivered total energy of 17.8Wh (10% lower)
- The PowerBot unit delivered 15.0Wh (24% lower)
See the "Output Power vs. Runtime" chart I uploaded in Customer Images section for details.
Some other things you should know about this product:
- The USB power does not turn on automatically when you plug in a device. You need to press the white power button on the side to turn it on.
- The 3-bar battery status light only comes on for 5 seconds before turning itself off, even though the USB power is still on. Just press the white button again to check the battery status.
- When the battery is nearly exhausted, the status light comes on and starts blinking.
- The instruction sheet says each of the three LED bars represent 33% of battery status, and blinking LED means less than 10% of charge left. Based on my testing, this seems to be an accurate description. Most other power banks I tested have highly non-linear status lights, so for example if only 1 LED out of 4 is on, the battery could be anywhere between 10% and 50%.
- To recharge this Jackery Bar's internal battery, you just connect it to an USB power adapter. It takes about 5-6 hours to recharge if your USB power adapter can supply at least 1A of current. If you recharge it from a computer's USB 2.0 port, the current is limited to 500mA, so now it takes about 12 hours to recharge.
- The LED flashlight is turned on/off by two quick clicks on the power button. It is nothing to get excited about, though. The beam is dim, greenish and unfocused. On the up-side, it claims a really long runtime of 450 hours.
The Jackery Bar power bank is well-built, and it delivers the advertised output current and battery capacity. The only drawback is price, as it is currently priced about 60% higher than my two other 5600mAh power bank units. But since I really need the 2A output current for charging my Nook HD+, this is the smallest and lowest-cost power bank unit that works for me.

Quite a handy and powerful device! Not perfect, but definitely great.
I saw a press release about this device on Engadget a few weeks ago and thought that it would make the perfect companion for my Galaxy SIII. My phone is awesome, but it does chew through power when running games or watching movies. To ensure that I'd never run out of power when I needed it, I ordered the 5600 mAh Jackery Bar and patiently waited two days.
Well, after a week of using the device, I can definitely say that it was worth the purchase. I have tried a couple of devices on it so far, and the Jackery bar has quickly charged each and every one of them. It fits the bill, but it's definitely not perfect, so here are some pros/cons of the device as I have experienced it:
+Very small and well made. The metal enclosure is svelte and the plastic caps are bonded to the device satisfactorily. The device feels solid and fits in a pocket easily.
+Charges devices quickly. Full charge of the GSIII in less than two hours!
+Battery charges quickly, too. Takes probably 5 hours for a full charge from zero, but that's at least 2x the power of your cellphone.
+Definitely high-capacity. I could charge my phone three times from 30% before it gives up the ghost.
+Useful LED light (2 LEDs). Not too bright, but definitely good enough for close reading. I'm sure it would be a good camping companion.
+Can charge a device and itself at the same time. Useful for plugging both into one charger overnight.
+LEDs give a good indication of the charge. Blinking LED means you have 4 statuses in 3 lights. (1 Blinking: 0-33%; 1 Lit, 1 Blinking: 33-66%; 2L 1B: 66-99%; 3L: 100%)
=Like all Li-Ion batteries, this device will lose power when cold. After warming up, it will work better, but for anyone in wintry areas, keep this thing at room temp if you need it for emergencies!
=Not a con since it's a value add. The USB cable that came with it was very small and cheap. Useful because you need it for charging the battery and a device at the same time, and it is an actual data cable, but not a quality cable.
=The manual had some odd grammatical errors. It was understandable, just a bit odd for a device that was supposedly designed in the US. The whole device is pretty straightforward so this is kind of a moot point.
=Does not come with a USB charger. I get it, the device probably cost a good amount to make and anybody who wants this will already have a charger for whatever they're using the battery with. I'm glad I didn't accumulate yet another charger. Some will miss it. !!! Use a 1A charger for this battery or it will take a while to charge up !!!
-USB port on my device (full port for charging) is a bit loose. It's not like a cable will fall out, but definitely not as tight as a computer's USB port.
-Micro port and USB port are too close together for concurrent charging with some cables. It will work with the included cable, but others are too large to fit in without some uncomfortable bending.
-Blue charging LEDs are very bright! I ended up putting it face down or putting something on it overnight.
This is a great option for a universal phone/device charger. I'm even getting a USB cable for my 3DS to charge that up and supplement the weak battery! I have tried portable chargers like this in the past and was underwhelmed, especially with stuff from Duracell or Black and Decker. This is a good device for a great price. It's not perfect, but it is definitely great.
EDIT 5/8: I have received the usb cable for my 3DS and it works perfectly!

EXCELLENT External Battery Charger!
The Jackery Bar 6000mAh is an excellent external battery charger. The battery itself looks amazing (I chose the silver as it was cheapest), with a polished aluminum look and feel that is VERY similar to Apple products. And I absolutely LOVE that is has an LED flashlight built-in. I originally bought this as a battery charger for my Galaxy S5 and to take camping and use while playing Pokemon Go, and I think it will aide me greatly during both of those activities.
I think their packaging could be a little simpler and less wasteful of materials, but I was happy they included a Micro-USB cable. I checked the initial charge when I received it, and it was not pre-charged, which I think is safer for transporting and I didn't expect it to be fully charged on arrival. A full charge on the Jackery (plugged into my PS4) took about 2.5 hours. It would probably charge faster with a tablet or any other 2 amp charging brick.
I depleted my phone's battery and then plugged it into the Jackery without turning my phone back on. The Jackery charged my phone to 100% in about an hour and 45 minutes, and reduced the Jackery's charge just one bar. This was the first charge of the Jackery and first time using it to charge another device, but I am confident this battery charger will maintain it's charging abilities and be a durable power source when I am out-and-about!

Best on the go charger! Fast and long lasting. My friends and family's favorite!
In four words: I love this charger. I've never owned a different on the go charger, but I got one as a gift for all of my bridesmaids a few years ago and they LOVE it and say it's the best charger they've had. As for me, I think it charges my phone faster than my normal iPhone charger and it lasts up to two full charges for my phone (or many more partial charges) before needing to be charged itself and can go weeks even months without needing a charge if not in use. Plus the flashlight function is a fun add-on. All that to say, if u need an on the go charger for travel or just being home but not near an outlet, look no further as this charger is all u need!

Customer service that actually lives up to the title.
I ordered this item last fall, and by February, the micro USB port was failing so that the bar wouldn't charge consistently. I wrote Jackery and got a replacement battery fairly quickly, although it didn't have the capacity information on it, which I found curious, but didn't think about too much until it was confiscated in a Chinese airport by a security staff that didn't like that there was nothing on it to indicate the specifics. I contacted Jackery, rather annoyed, and they apologized, theorized that I had received a battery that had been manufactured before they fully marked the battery capacity, and sent me a new battery. I had been greatly satisfied with the bar, because it would charge my iPhone almost 2 times. Now that I have my new replacement, I am just as happy with its performance, and I hope that those in the company are alerted to the fact that the battery needs the information on it in order to be considered acceptable in carry-on baggage. I have only good things to say about their customer service, as they could not have been more accommodating or courteous. Now I will wait to see how the battery continues to perform in regard to charging capacity.

but mostly the larger ones like the Titan and the Giant
I have purchased many Jackery products before, but mostly the larger ones like the Titan and the Giant, but I was looking for something smaller and more portable but still packs a lot of power. This Jackery is it! It's a good size and charges my Samsung Galaxy s7 edge. I have yet to measure how long it takes to charge, but I can go the entire day using my phone without having to worry that my battery will run out anymore.

Had the Jackery Bar for a few months now and it is working as promised. I am not using it regularly but it is a great backup for the days you are out for a long time and it also powers the larger phones multiple times. I also have the small version and even though I like the finish of the older one better, it is irrelevant for the use. The smaller version does not fully power the larger phones and has no light. As a matter of fact, I have used the light a couple of times already and it is great to have handy. I hope this will last a long time.

Love my Jackery
I first used the Jackery cell phone charger while on vacation at Disney. I borrowed it from a family member and was very impressed with the size, how light weight it is, and the performance. When we returned I purchased 2 of my own. I have been on long cycling trips recently and my cell phone battery was dying before I completed the trip. I can now use the Jackery for those trips because it is so light weight.

Shuts off after hardly charging device
I bought a Bar charger from BTA-MALL on August 5th, and charged it once it was received. Last night is the first time I needed to use it. I turned it on, and it showed three bars for full power, and I plugged my iphone6 in using the cable my phone came with (apple cable). It began charging immediately. I checked about 10 minutes later, and it had charged 7%, but was no longer charging. I tried turning it on again, unplugging and plugging it back in, I looked up the user manual online, etc. Finally I was able to get it to start charging again after holding the power button down for about 5 seconds, but again it charged an additional 3% before shutting off again. This time I was unable to get it to start charging again. I have contacted Jackery and will update this review once I hear back from them.

but I'm not happy that it didn't come with any cords
I would have given this a higher review, but I'm not happy that it didn't come with any cords. I missed that in the description, I feel that a basic cord should have been included. Great item, my girls love them and easy to carry with them.
