Long lasting and versatile.
We lost the lid, spoon and cup to our original bowl years ago but we've been using just the bowl to nuke everything from soup to rice to leftovers, and we occasionally have used it as a cereal or ice cream bowl. Eventually, when you multi use it, it gets pitted and scratched up so we had to replace it. Thankfully I found it again!
As for cooking rice; we were never quite happy with cooking regular rice in it. Always too hard or too mushy. We ended up buying a rice cooker and that works perfectly 100%. But, if you find that happy medium it's wonderful! Or use instant rice ;)
For instant white rice: 1c rice, 1c water 6:30 minutes. 2c rice,2c water 8:30 minutes. Using a regular 1c measuring cup, not the one it comes with. For instant brown rice, use directions in box.
Works great for this Knorr side noodles and rice, too! Doesn't overflow as much as it does in a Pyrex bowl.

I use this rice cooker all the time in the summer. I just have to remember that if I'm cooking brown short grain rice in a 700W microwave it takes about 40 minutes on full power and 10 minutes rest (1 1/2 cups rice to 7 cups of water). If I'm using my 1000W+ microwave the same ratio of rice to water takes 30 minutes at 70% power plus 10 minutes rest. The cooked rice generally is not too wet or too dry and freezes well.

Love, love, love this rice cooker. This is my second one. The first one I melted because I didn't follow the directions, so, I bought another one. Makes the best rice. Love it

We were given one of these about 8 years ago. I thought it was a joke. Wrong!
This thing is awesome. We are Asian and we eat a lot of rice. We eat rice 3 times a day. This purchase was for a gift.
You need to play with it a bit to get your formula correct. We use 2 cups of rice and 3 1/2 cups of water and microwave on high for 14 minutes. Any rice left over? - Just snap the cover back on and refrigerate. Next day, sprinkle a little water on the leftovers and microwave on high 1 or 2 minutes.
3 cups of rice takes about 20 minutes. Any more than that it boils over so place the rice cooker on a plate to ease clean up of your microwave.
Great gift for a single person or a couple.

Love this thing. It really works. I can cook small batches for a single meal. Saves space. You can vary the water to get he desired consistency. Super easy to use and the plastic seems very tough.

Want Fluffy Rice?
Bought this to replace my old microwave rice cooker that contained BPA plastic. When I first got it I was a little taken back. It was a lot smaller then my old cooker, and lighter. I decided to try it that night. I used the measuring cup they provided and made a double batch. I put a bowl under it in the microwave for fear it would boil over. To my surprise, no boil over and the rice was the fluffiest, most perfect rice I ever made. What a pleasant surprise. I highly recommend.

My favorite rice cooker out of several varieties tried!
Love this product! I previously owned a larger size of the Prepworks rice cooker (much larger) that worked brilliantly, but my daughter melted it on the stove. (Yea, she is 15 so enough said.) I replaced it with this smaller one, but a bit leery that it would not accomdate enough for the family. It does easily and it is a perfect size. Tonight I used 2 cups dry rice, 4 cups cold water and tossed in in the microwave for 15 minutes and beautiful, fluffy rice. I could have made more if needed, as it had more capacity available. Easy clean up. No worries about forgetting about it on the stove top and it burning, etc. I have also owned electric rice cookers and far prefer this one over using those or even using my beloved pressure cooker. Rice comes out fluffy and perfect every time. I also cooked the Uncle Bens cheddar broccoli boxed stuff and that worked great as well.

We cook quinoa in our electric rice cooker several times a week at home. When planning the menu for a week's stay at a resort condo, we took a chance on this microwave cooker. It worked perfectly and fit well into the suitcase. A home run!

The Progressive Rice Cooker for microwaves worked perfectly for making rice. There were no spillovers in the microwave and the rice was perfect! Clean-up was a cinch! I should have bought one years ago!

Good Rice Steamer
Great once you figure out the amount of rice, water and time to do the job.

Good but still experimenting
I tried to use various power settings with the micro. oven, used various amounts of rice and used various amounts of water or broth. I watched one video where the person cooks the rice perfectly. I tried his way and the rice wasn't cooked all the way. I tried again. It works well with white rice but doesn't with wild rice. I had to took it on medium and almost high power for over 15min.
I am giving it 4 stars because of this. I put on one broccoli head, cut up into 4 pieces with a little water. Steams broccoli and carrots Great!!

Just follow the directions and bung it in the microwave for perfect rice in minutes. No burning, sticking, or having to cover and uncover, or change the stove temp from high to low. It's easy. It works.
Do read the directions. Quickly rinse the rice once, and use the right amounts of water and rice for each type of rice. I have a fairly old 700 watt microwave, so I increased the cooking time by 3 minutes and it works fine.

Perfect. Easy and quick!
It is perfect. You only need to add rice and water and in 10 minutes you have a perfect rice.
Just don't do too much rice at once. Also, reduce the microwave power to 70% because full power will make your water steam out of the bowl.

Somehow my previous rice cooker like this mysteriously disappeared after Christmas. I don't use instant rice so this cooker is a must for me. It cooks much faster in the microwave than in a pot on the stove. I was happy I found one on BTA-MALL. I highly recommend it, especially if you don't use instant rice.
