A safe and effective way to maximise your aquatic workout
These gloves were sent to me for test and evaluation. My husband and I swim regularly and, until now, we had used the rigid type of swim paddle. I was curious to see how these flexible alternatives would perform. The basic idea is the same. These neoprene gloves are designed to make your swimming workout more challenging by providing more resistance than your bare hand but not so much that you risk a sprained shoulder (as with the rigid variety). With their webbed design, the gloves allow you to catch the water more efficiently and thus gain an understanding of what it feels like to swim powerfully. You can then translate this new feel into better technique when swimming without the gloves. They also cause your arm and shoulder muscles to work maybe 20% harder.
After a suitable testing period, I would say that they are very effective and, when used appropriately, will assist in building muscle in the target areas. Also I think they are preferable to the paddle variety for most recreational swimmers for a number of reasons:
1. It is unlikely that anyone would overdo their first few workouts because the gloves provide a moderate amount of resistance.
2. Although they force the fingers to spread, it is possible to cup the hand slightly and so change the position, which helps avoid stiffness.
3. With the rigid paddles, good technique is essential. If your hand enters the water incorrectly, you are in trouble. With these, there is a lot more flexibility.
4. Probably the most important reason: because they are soft, there is no danger of hurting someone's face with them. An important consideration in a public pool because of the inevitably close proximity with other swimmers.
Choosing the correct size is based on your hand size, whereas with the paddle type, size relates to the intensity of the workout. With these, generally-speaking, Large for men, Medium for women with average-sized hands and Small for women with small hands, and children.
These gloves are solidly made, the stitching is carefully done and strong. Provided they are rinsed in fresh water after every use, they should last well. They feel comfortable and are easy to put on and remove. The wrist closure with the Velcro tab allows for a custom fit and can be easily adjusted; once the gloves are wet, you may want to tighten them a little. We really like this product and we'll be using the gloves a lot to maximise the effectiveness of our swimming sessions. An effective and safe tool for swimmers at all levels.

Love these gloves--especially for aquatic exercise!!
These water resistance swim gloves are amazing! I use them daily for teaching aquatic exercise. They really increase resistance and feel great on the hands. Some of my students say they help ease joint pain when they have arthritis but I don't so I can't say for sure.I bought the gloves in large not knowing what to expect and they fit well but my hands are average size. Almost every woman in my class can wear this particular pair comfortably. I recommend these gloves for swimmers naturally, but for any aquatic exercise format!

Webbed Hands for Swimming!
These are fantastic for building upper body strength while swimming. The webbing provides more resistance than just using your hands during swim strokes. This purchase was my second pair. The first pair lasted for many miles in the pool over several years. The velcro holds up beautifully and the material doesn't snag easily. I am 5'4" and I purchased a medium. They are snug, but they stretch out over time. I also like them because my speed is enhanced also!

Good for pool running
These work well for added resistance for pool running. Easy to put on and seem like they will hold up well to chlorine and repeated use

Not What I Expected
I bought these gloves to take with me on a long overseas cruise because I like doing acquasize and couldn't fit either the noodles that I normally use for resistance, or water dumbbells, in my suitcase. These are nice and compact but I don't feel any resistance at all when doing my usual water exercise routine. To be fair, I may have misunderstood their purpose. I did not buy them to swim. I bought them for water aerobics. With a noodle or water dumbbells, you can do so many exercises. These gloves just don't add anything to the workout.
I had to update this review because of the outstanding response from the company. After reading my review, they reached out to me and immediately refunded my purchase. I wish more companies were this good. Thank you, InnoGear.

My wife loves these for her aquatic aerobics. She has a problem with a previously dislocated thumb and these provide resistance under water and are much easier on her thumb than using weights.
