4 Stars By Blessed Momma on 2016-03-23 Was hesitant due to mixed reviews but glad I chanced it! I needed a new food processor since my Cuisinart broke but was on a very tight budget. The great reviews were promising but I was concerned about the several 1-star reviews. The under $35 price tag convinced me to give it a try. I've waited after several uses and washes to give a fair review:
I love it! It is lightweight but the suction cups keep it stable on the counter. I can easily move it to my storage shelf after each use to keep my small counter clutter free.
I've used all the attachments with great results. The slicing blade gave perfectly sliced potatoes & carrots. It was fast! The other grating side grated several onions in no time too. The mouth of the feeder is wide but not large enough for an onion so I had to cut them in half before grating.
The dough blade made it very easy to make pizza dough and shortbread but I did have to stop, scrape the sides & bottom of the bowl for even kneading.
The regular blade chops veggies pretty evenly and I made a sun dried tomato paste in minutes to stir into soups & pastas.
You have to make sure everything is properly locked into place or it won't start which is a good safety feature even though this confused me at first when using the slicing disk for the first time because you still have to add all the rest of the pieces of the top in place. I have washed the parts several times in the top rack of my dishwasher without any issues.
The motor isn't as strong as my last one and I have to let it rest between several pulses to avoid the over-heating/burning smell of over use but it's not like I paid for a higher end item. Well worth the money spent & time saved from manual chopping/grating. It has encouraged me to be more creative in the kitchen again. A great value & I'm very happy with my new purchase!
4 Stars By Connie (She who hikes with dogs) on 2014-10-23 A good budget food processor, but understand its limitations This is a full-sized food processor for a family kitchen. It's lightweight due to the plastic components. Only the reversible slice/shred disc, multi-purpose blade and the motor are metal; all other parts are plastic. New users must first thoroughly read the manual for assembly and use before using. There are nine pieces to this thing
You can chop, shred, slice and knead with this food processor, but you can not chop ice, whip cream, beat egg whites, grind coffee beans, spices or other oily items. You also can't slice or shred hard-cooked eggs, marshmallows or soft, warm cheeses with this thing. Cheese must be chilled prior to using, or else the cheese will soften around the blades and turn into a glob that is hard to clean.
The enclosed manual is very thorough on the assembly. There are many helpful hints to be aware of. Users must understand this machine's limitations (due, in part, to the plastic parts). They are listed on pages 10-11 in the manual.
Most foods can be processed in 30 seconds or less. The machine is not too loud, and what I appreciate are the four suction cups on the bottom of the machine that keep this from toppling over. Most foods can be done quickly, like cold meats, vegetables and nuts. Cabbage and carrots come out very nicely for salads.
This machine will overheat when used for too long and shut down. It will restart after it has cooled off for 15 minutes.
This is a good budget food processor for a family of 4-5 people. The one flaw are the many plastic components. One drop to the floor and the entire assembly is useless. At least cleaning this thing is easy, since the parts come apart easily.
2 Stars By K. Vora on 2017-02-06 Great for shredding, chopping but not great for dough It worked great for 3 months and then my dough blade broke. Since that was the main reason for purchasing this processor, I tried to contact several times to Oster company but was never able to speak with customer rep. Finally I gave up and contacted BTA-MALL support. And they replaced the whole processor. So happy with BTA-MALL support
5 Stars By ANH on 2015-05-10 Perfect basic foood processor! Great basic food processor! It does all it needs to for the typical family without the bells and whistles.
Pros: -chops veggies very well, evenly, doesn't leave a lot of big pieces and doesn't turn them into part mash. -chops nuts well (not fine enough for flour or butter) -all the features work fine (dough, dressings, slicing, shredding-everything it says it can do) -affordable
Cons: -lid does not have a seal, making soup and filling bowl near maximum may cause liquid to leak down the side -blade does not lock into bowl, which means you can dump it out while emptying the bowl -loud (this may be a pro if your children squabble at dinner making time and you like to drown it out) -lightweight and requires a bit of pressure to not wobble if unevenly loaded with hard, large chunks
Overall, we are very pleased. I must note 2 things, 1) we also have a vitamix blender, so this appliance is principally used for chopping veggies and 2) it is replacing a ridiculously overpriced food processor which had a blade lock, a lid seal and was heavyweight, but failed in less than 2 yrs without company support despite claims of a warranty. Oster appliances and customer service have done well for us, much better than more expensive brands.
We did well to get a high end blender to do things like make smoothies, soup and flour and a basic food processor to chop veggies and make chicken salad.
5 Stars By MasterSergeantDisabledVet on 2017-10-05 My new favorite kitchen tool A great processor with a large capacity cup, quite easy to clean.
The dough blade is fantastic, especially for the price. I could not find another processor or mixer with a dough blade for less than $200.
This processor makes an excellent housewarming or wedding gift.
See my video showing how to place and lock the mixing cup on the processor. Always start with the container from the 4 o'clock hour position towards the 5 o'clock position. Add blades, then repeat the process with the lid, again from the 4 o'clock hour position towards the 5 o'clock position.
3 Stars By Gram on 2017-03-09 For the price it works well. I use this mostly for blending/puree. I have a Bosch mixer that I use for just about everything else. this is a fair processor and will do the job but it is not anything fancy. It's a plastic food processor with a decent looking appearance. It doesn't look all that sturdy, but the cord storage and suction cups are a nice feature. the only issue I've had is that the blades sit about 1.5 inches off the bottom of the container and food that falls below doesn't get chopped very well. Other than that, it's pretty good.
5 Stars By L. BROWN on 2017-12-26 Highly recommend I bought this to replace a Black & Decker model that broke. That model was so loud, I really didn't like it. I was worried this model would also be loud based on the reviews I read, but the sound is not bad at all. I love the large bowl and it is very easy to operate and clean.
4 Stars By Magpie on 2018-01-09 Works well, cleaning is tricky Works really well, but hard to clean the lid where the food pusher locks in.
Used it to grate cheese, and some got in that section. Not even using a straw brush and an extra hand to press the lock mechanism open could I get it out. :(
The rest cleans easily, and I like that you can store all the parts in the bowl. I also like that if you have to store the motor and bowl separate, the motor doesn't have the spindle sticking up, so you can store it in a shorter space.
5 Stars By Hensmama on 2018-01-23 It has a large capacity bowl and the parts are easy to clean Oster FPSTFP1355 2-Speed 10-Cup Food Processor, 500-watt This Oster food processor is very powerful and able to handle most chopping and slicing jobs with ease. It has a large capacity bowl and the parts are easy to clean. Really like that this model comes with a dough hook that is very helpful in mixing thick batters or kneading bread dough. Very high quality with a low price point. Well worth price.
4 Stars By Frenchie on 2016-05-09 Good processor for the price! Great processor that works very quickly. I've only used it to slice, chop, and dice food items. It doesn't have the biggest mouth for larger food items, so chopping/dicing is typically needed before food can go down the shute.
The other small downside I've noticed is that tiny particles of food somehow made its way into the handle, and you would have to dismantle it (potentially not be able to reassemble) in order to clean out properly. I've worried that the food can get stuck and start to mold. (Yuck)
