Description: The fun lasts longer for kids in the water with a Stearns Puddle Jumper Life Jacket. The premium construction is made from woven polyester, a softer fabric for less chafing. The comfortable design also allows children 30-50 lbs. (13.6 kg.-22.7 kg.) to move and swim freely in pools and lakes and at the beach, without the life jacket riding up around their necks. The US Coast Guard-approved life jacket features a fun character on the front for more fun in the water. The life jacket can also be used as a learn-to-swim aid.

5 Stars By Dayyana on 2017-02-13 Baby seeks freedom! He's 10 months-old today, weighing about 8.5 kg/ 19 lbs and has decided that he is too big for a baby floatie ring. He loves the independence of the Puddle-Jumper and independently changes from feet forward to feet under to feet back, all with head out of the water. He deliberately dips his mouth in though to taste the water! I've used these before for kids 15 months to 8 years, but 8 months was a first. He cries in protest if we put him in the baby ring! The Puddle Jumper gives freedom!! Big brother is the sizeof a 6-7 year-old and still wears the same Puddle-Jumper on a looser setting.
4 Stars By MissMare on 2017-10-06 Nice for toddlers, but be careful My 2 year old loves kicking around and having some independence in this. And he kicks his little legs so hard he burns off a lot of energy, which I appreciate. He has a LOT more fun with this on than he does without it and just with me holding him.
However, as a former lifeguard, I have mixed feelings about this. I do think that floaties give both parents and children a false sense of security in the water, so if you're going to use them, do not take your eyes off your child for a second. Not one. And make sure your child doesn't have access to a pool because they may not realize that they can't float and kick around like that without their floaties and just jump in thinking they can play without them. I'm sure everyone knows this, but I don't think it caution can be expressed enough when it comes to toddlers and pools.
5 Stars By Nicky Blue on 2016-08-07 It does the job well Purchased this for my 15 month old who is average height and a little skinny. He still has some chunkiness to him though. I saw reviews stating that this is not actually a life jacket and I thought "duh" because when I purchased it the information stated it was not a life jack but now it says it is a life jacket. I would personally not rely on it as a life jacket on a boat or anything. Between the material and foam it's similar to putting thier arms into floaties. If your child is especially chunky this could cause issues. My son has been in the water at a very early age and wants freedom so that is why I purchased this even though it's technically a little big on him. There is nothing on thier back so if they flop back and cannot hold thier head out of the water it could be an issue for you. It is important with relying on any floatation device to know what your child is capable of AND you never leave them unattended by water. Also, reviews of "my child didn't like it" I find laughable. 2 two old not liking something at first? Welcome to parenthood. My son did not like it at first but we made him feel comfortable and honestly at his age and with his determination it's the only way he can be in our pool at the moment. Comfort? It's bulky but my kid rocks it and spend hours in the pool climbing in and out. As far as quality - I expected this to last maybe 1 season which is about how long our bathing suits last with the amount we swim. I purchased this 3 months ago and with regular use and exposed to hot sun drying it has begun fading and the design is coming off. The foam is not as stiff. So I'd say my guess is that it will not last to next year. I bought this on a 'lightening sale' and am very happy with my purchase.
5 Stars By Wayne R. Boardman on 2015-08-09 Want to toss a child into a pool? I do! I bought this product based on seeing a friend throw a 3 year old into the deep end of a swimming pool while wearing this. The child simply floated back to the surface and calmly doggy paddled back to the ladder to climb out and be tossed back in again. The friends also had an 18 month old wearing one, and like anything found in a Ronco Kitchen, were able to set it, and forget it. They gently put her in the pool and she merely floated around and enjoyed herself. I said to my self, "Wayne, you've always wanted to throw your tiny human into a swimming pool!" and promptly bought one of these when I got home.
Seriously folks, this works perfectly as designed, forcing the children to float in a position that easily keeps their head above water. Love it!
5 Stars By somsas on 2017-05-28 Best swim aid available! We bought one of these last year four our two year old (she had just turned 2). We have tried every floation device/swim aid available last summer. The puddle jumpers are the only ones that we feel are easy for the kids to learn use and safe. At first our daughter wanted to tip forward and her face would go in the water, but after a week or two of using it she learned to keep her body upright and float around in it without assistance. By the end of the summer she was jumping off of the side of the pool and swimming all over. I never let her leave my sight, but I have no problems letting her swim around and don't feel like I have to be right next her while swimming. This year we bought one for our son who is 15 months. He's still in the process of learning how to sit up in the water in it, but it makes holding on to him so much easier because he doesn't want to be held close while in the pool. He wants to move and float around. I'm assuming just like his sister he'll figure out how to use it quickly and we will have two little swimmers on our hands. Great product! Highly recommend! Just remember when they first start using their puddle jumper they will naturally tip forward and their face will go in the water until they learn to stay upright. With some practice and patience they can figure out. You really do need to be next to them at all times wile they learning how to use it, but once they catch on it will make life so much easier! As far as fit goes I long very skinny kids and both puddle jumpers fit and their arms do not come out. Our son at 15 months is still just a bit tiny for his but it's still useable with supervision (and I'm sure he'll grow into it quickly).
5 Stars By Shopper123 on 2017-06-06 Great for beginners swimmers My son is a little less than two years old and we bought this for our pool. At first he was a little apprehensive to use the swimmies but quickly got used to them and loves it. He feels very comfortable using them and swimming around the pool by himself. They do a great job of keeping him afloat but I will note that his face very frequently goes under and he has to spit out the water or occasionally drinks it by accident
5 Stars By shereekjos on 2017-07-14 Love this! I can't say enough good things about this product! We were using a regular life jacket & it was constantly putting my 2 & 1/2 year old over on her stomach(not good for this momma's heart) and she couldn't really swim in it. It also had two straps that went from the back under her bottom/between her legs to clip in the front and from her jumping in the pool caused some serious rope burns on her inner leg. Then I found this & I can't emphasize how big of a difference in her swimming this gave her just in a few hours! She was kicking & swimming all on her own in the shallow end. She feels & looks secure & comfortable in it. & as a mom I'm so happy with the product & no longer have anxiety when she gets in the pool with us. She's 34 pounds too in case anyone has a toddler her size & is contemplating getting this
5 Stars By Memly on 1969-12-31 Children Love Newfound Independence in the Pool. Simple Design. Easy Onn/Off. Durable and Quick dry Materials My 2 and 4 year olds love these. Finally they can be "independent" in the pool. The look of sheer awe and happiness on their faces during their first swim was priceless. It makes parents' lives easier, too. While I am of course watching them constantly in the pool, I no longer have to be tethered to my children. And they are able to paddle around and play which is a huge improvement from other floaters we have used. Plus we were able to find a color and pattern out of the huge selection to suit each child. Other great things include it's simple design, easy on and off with just one buckle, and material is durable and dries quickly in the sun.
I let my friend's 2.5 year-old try ours and she went home and ordered one the very next day.
I would recommend this for small children whether they have learned to swim or not because even strong swimmers can "go under" sometimes. These don't seem to limit the children's ability to play or move about but provides an additional layer of security.
5 Stars By Erich on 2017-07-09 he enjoyed wearing it and it made us feel very comfortable ... My son is on the smaller side as far as weight, he's lean but tall at 21 months, so it does ride up when he's floating. However, he enjoyed wearing it and it made us feel very comfortable being in and around water. Some reviews talk about it hurting their kids or leaving marks... don't make this too tight! It should be a little loose where you can fit your fingers under the strap BUT adjusted to fit comfortably and tailored to where it's form-fitting, if that makes sense. Tighter doesn't mean better. We love this for swimming and being around water! Sidenote, as good as this is and while it's certified/approved by the U.S. Coast Guard, please don't let this replace a life jacket when boating, etc.
5 Stars By Ames1207 on 2017-07-04 Perfect for my toddler! These puddle jumpers are perfect for my 18 month old who loves the pool! He is able to float and keep upright all by himself with these on. He is also able to easily flip around, from front to back, while wearing them. My son is never allowed inside the pool gates without these on. The other day he fell into the pool and the puddle jumpers brought him right up and onto his back. I feel much better about him being near the pool with these on, even though we are always with him. The design is very cute and hasn't rubbed off at all unlike the ones with the plastic designs on the front. Plus the price can't be beat!
