Great addition to my BBQ arsenal! :)
We bought a big, fancy schmancy new gas grill, a Charbroil five burner (with searing burner), and I reeeeaaaaalllly wanted to get a good smoked flavor, without unduly dirtying up the shiny new grill. So, I got this smoker box. After reading a number of reviews, I quick-soaked some Luhr Jensen smoking chips, via the boiling water & microwave method, loaded the box, and tried it out. On the grate, it didn't work, but after removing a grate and placing it directly on the burner tents, it did. It does take a while to get it smoking, but once it does, it's GREAT. I hot-smoked some rockfish fillets, by placing them on a foiled cookie sheet, on the "warmer" rack, with the smoker box below it, and it came out perfectly! It also created enough smoke to do up some cheese curds, as well. I would highly recommend this one to anyone who wants to get that smoky flavor, without creating a horrific mess to clean up later. Tips: make sure the wood shavings are soaked, but drained well. Don't expect it to start smoking right away- it will take some time. Start out on High, on the burner tents, and when the smoke starts, lower your temperature as low as it'll go- you'll be able to maximize your smoking time. Great little gadget- really glad we got it! :)

Good quality, lasts long
You are missing out if you don't put wood chips in your gas grill. It adds SOOOO much flavor. This is my second Char Broil stainless. The first lasted about 4 years - countless barbeques and leaving it outside. Very durable.

OK but Aluminum foil packets work about as well.
It seems to take a long time before it starts smoking. We've tried just half soaked chips and half dry but that doesn't seem to help.

It has not warped after quite a few uses. I use it on a hot plate for cold smoking sausages for 6-10 hours. It has less airflow for good smoke and less burning. I prefer it over my Kingsford one that I switch out for reloading.
