Pleasently Surprised Coffee Snob
A little bit about me- I am a barista at the local coffee house. I am a huge snob when it comes to coffee, I've had beans fresh from the plantations in Honduras. I prefer dark roast or single origin coffees. I have almost every type of coffee brewer- drip, espresso, french press, Keurig, and now the Ninja. I bought this unit at a brick and mortar store, not BTA-MALL. I came home and immediately started cleaning the machine. I had decided to have a blind coffee tasting with 3 brew methods. I did my taste test with overly processed beans because I have read the mixed reviews and was expecting to be disappointed. I used the same freshly ground beans in the french press, Keurig, and Ninja. I brewed each cup according to my tastes on the press and Keurig, but followed directions for the Classic Brew on the Ninja. When tasting the brew I sampled black coffee, slightly cooled so I could get the full flavor. I rated each cup and then peaked at which brew I preferred. I won't lie- the press tasted the best to me. However, the Ninja came in a very close 2nd. Now I am a convenience person and as much as I love the taste of the french press, I do not have time at 6 am with 2 kids screaming to wait for the press to be ready. I need to have it prepped and ready to drink. Now I will have the ability to have a very respectable tasting coffee either by the cup or by the pot easily.
I have read quite a few mixed reviews and want to address some of the issues I saw.
1. It steams quite a bit. However when you look at the top of the machine there are VENT HOLES, so yes steam is going to escape.
2. There were claims that it took too long, about 10 minutes for a full pot is what my previous drip machine did. This was very close to that time.
3. It's not hot, which is really bunk. This machine produces a cup as hot as a press but hotter than the Keurig. I temped it (see images).
4. It drips after completion. Yes it does, but so does my Keurig. If you want a pristine machine you will have to wipe it after each use.
I can't attest to the temperature of the coffee after 2 hours in the carafe yet, but I will update. I also have not tried any other feature of the Ninja either. My main use is fresh brewed coffee, so that's what I tested. I am very excited to experiment with the iced setting as well as the concentrated brew for more elaborate drinks.
***ETA- The coffee in the carafe cooled by about 8 degrees an hour. So while still steaming, it did cool.

BEWARE! UPDATE BELOW
Beware! About 1 1/2 weeks AFTER the return time expired, it said "cln" which means clean. It will not work until you've cleaned it as per instructions. So- we cleaned it. And the "cln" light stayed on. Cleaned it again. Nope. It is in permanent non working "cln" mode. That's one heck of a lot of money for a 6 week coffee maker!! We have contacted the company and are waiting to hear from them. HUGE REGRET!
Update: after two conversations with the company, my husband discovered that there was more to cleaning the machine than he'd thought. So, he purchased a descaler ( instead of just using white vinegar), and then ran it through 2 flush cycles. It worked!!! So I. Going from 1 star up to 4. Not 5, because the written instructions were pretty ambiguous.

High quality coffee that has replaced several of my machines now
I bought this product because I saw the infomercial one morning and couldn't believe that one coffee maker could do everything it says it can do with high quality and one machine. I figured I would buy it, try it, and return it... no loss to me and I wouldn't spend months wondering about this thing. Guess what? I was wrong!
My first test was to try to get rid of the kcup machine, so I made a classic brewed single cup made from preground beans. Let's face it, the kcup is all about convenience and not about quality of coffee. But the Ninja Coffee Bar was just as easy to use as a kcup machine, made a high quality single cup of coffee, and I can use any beans I want. No more of those awful and expensive plastic cups!
Next up, I tried a carafe of rich brew using the same beans. The quality of the coffee was amazing - deep and rich. Some reviews complain about over-extraction of the beans resulting in a bitter brew, but I did not notice this at all. By now, I was pretty convinced.
But there was one last test to try - iced coffee. This has been mission impossible for me for years. No matter what beans and brewing method I tried, I could not make a good cup of iced coffee at home. The Ninja Coffee Bar changed this for me. I used the exact same beans that I used for the hot coffee, and it was delicious! Even better than I buy at coffee shops. It is a dream come true to me.
So by this time I was convinced. The kcup was sent off to my son at college, the drip machine was donated to another family member, and the french press went into storage. This machine has effectively replaced three other coffee machines, and does them all as well or better and includes an upgrade to brewing high quality iced coffee. I am extremely impressed and do not regret this purchase at all!
I have not tried the concentrate setting as I have an espresso machine that I love and will not give up. However, if the Ninja Coffee Bar outlasts the espresso machine, I will try that setting instead of immediately rushing out to buy a new espresso machine.
You might be tempted to disregard this review as it is SO glowing and the purchase is not verified. I purchased at a different online retailer as BTA-MALL was out of stock, and I did pay full price as opposed to getting a discount to review the product. I am really, honestly just THIS sold on this machine. The only con I can think of is that I can see how it would be annoying (or easy to forget) to have to move the switch in order to pour a cup while a carafe is still brewing, but I haven't done this yet. If you love coffee, try this machine! I do not think you will regret it.

2 bad units in a year
Would not recommend. We went through 2 of these units in 18 months.
The first unit had the '5 beep' issue that you can read about online. It's when you start a pot of coffee and it stops shortly after beginning (not completing a full pot).
Ninja replaced that unit at no charge, but now 11 months later we are having the same issue. However, since we are no longer under the original 1 year warranty (warranty doesn't start over with replacement unit), all that they can offer is a discount on a new ($105 plus S&H).

I've experienced all brew settings and they all are good. Even the delayed brew setting is AWESOME
I don't really write reviews often. However, I had to write a review on this one after using every feature on it! I'm an avid coffee drinker and I did have a keurig before, but got tired of it. Yes it is convenient to have, but I wanted to dable with making some different style coffee specialty brews that are home made. The Ninja coffee bar, has by far exceeded my standards. I've experienced all brew settings and they all are good. Even the delayed brew setting is AWESOME! For the few times that I have used it, it has acted as an alarm clock for me. I actually woke up to my coffee aroma in the morning before my alarm went off.
My go to is the rich brew; I like my brew strong. My son and wife are now asking me to make specialty brews that they would pick up at the local coffee house. I'm so thankful that this has actually generated a new dialog with my family. How cool is that! Thank you to the makers of the Ninja Coffee Bar! You got my 5 star review! This gives me another tool to use to be intentional with my family! I love it!
A few things I recommend doing is ensure that you move over the drip stop switch after a brew. Use paper filters (#4). Last, when you pull out the housing compartment for the coffee filter, just make sure you have a paper towel ready in your hand to catch the left over water dripping. Makes clean up a lot better.

defective self clean and very poor customer service
Great coffee but clean light does not go out after several clean cycles and cleaner supplied by Ninja. I was told I need to send back to them my cost plus $20 fee and after a 3 week approx wait they would credit $100. I bought in December now February so new machine. I would be out of a coffee machine for weeks! The cost of new machine on line is $170! This means it will cost me $90 (70 + 20) and be without for weeks. I expected better from Ninja...

It has not disappointed. I love the options of a full carafe ...
One of our friends had a Ninja Coffee Bar and we were very impressed with all that it would do. We decided to give our single cup brewer to our college kids and give this one a try. It has not disappointed. I love the options of a full carafe down to a cup and the ability to adjust the brew strength if you want it stronger, or not as bold. It seems to brew hotter than other single serve coffee makers so you get the most flavor from your coffee. We love it so far!

made great coffee while it worked
Purchased this coffee maker 4 months ago...made great coffee while it worked...problems started after 2 months with the "clean" function...started coming on continuously...no time display, just cln. I had run it through 4 clean cycles...ok, I can live with that. This morning, went to make a pot, loaded the coffee grounds and the little drip control light stayed on. Put it out and in a couple times, same thing...felt the limit switch inside the unit and toggled it a couple of times...no luck...no coffee...can't make coffee with the drip light on....So I call their "customer service", or should I say dis-service...after giving them all my info, the fellow on the other end said they'd send me a coffee holder. I explained to him that I was an electronics and controls troubleshooter for 35 yrs., checked it out myself, and the problem was the limit switch. He then offered to send me a new one, for $19.95 shipping...I asked for a supervisor. He said I'd be on the supervisors call-back list and would probably take 48 hrs... I'm still waiting, and still have no coffee...coffee maker rating-1 star because it did make good coffee when it worked...customer service rating - 0 stars for charging me for a replacement part that is still under warranty...will never purchase Ninja or Shark products again.Update: received a callback from customer "service" supervisor... I explained the problem, she told me she couldn't waive the $19.95 shipping fee, as it was from a third party? I told her that I wouldn't purchase any more shark and ninja products again...end of conversation...what a poorly managed and inflexible company...I learn from my mistakes...Mr. Coffee, here I come...

About that darn clean light!
Got my ninja used from the amazon warehouse, still in warranty. Right when I turned it on I saw that darn light I was warned about. Likely the previous owner returned it because of that darn thing.
Okay, so, on the back there is a large sticker where it does have directions on how to clean with vinegar, however, THESE DIRECTIONS WILL NOT TURN OFF THE LIGHT!
To get it to turn off - run a clean cycle as normal. At the end, after it beeps, the display will change from "clean" to "flush", at which point, fill the resivoir to full, and, without pressing anything else or turning the knob, press the clean button once (don't press and hold!). The coffee maker then quickly flush the water through in a few minutes, then the light finally turns off! If it turns on again that means it's still detecting hard water deposits and stuff so run it again.
Also, treat yourself to a water filter. You shouldn't be using hard tap water with good coffee anyway.
But yeah so anyway as a coffee snob this thing is incredible. 10/10 superb tasting coffee.

It's easy to use and clean
It's easy to use and clean.
I know this next part might sound crazy but I think this coffee maker made my coffee taste better, a bit smoother.
I brewed the exact same brand of coffee from the very same coffee can in another well known brewer that I own. The coffee maker was cleaned and ready to go so no foreign tastes were left behind. It was good as I expected. When I brewed more of the coffee through this coffee maker I would swear the coffee came out with a smoother taste. I thought I was imagining things until I did the same test again and again. Same result.
Happy with my purchase.
