Weaker than expected, good for small jobs and stairs
Product was weaker than I was expecting but it's good for small jobs and stairs. Won't suck cat hair out of the carpet but has gotten most everything else. I opted for this one because it is cordless and rechargeable. The charger cord is kind of wimpy so hopefully it lasts. The vacuum is pretty light so it's easy to handle. It comes with a couple different tip attachments that I don't see much use for. Being cordless is super nice and it's insanely easy to empty. You must hold the power button, it is not a push for on push for off button so if you don't like that then good thing I told you. The cord for the charger is 5 or 6 feet long. Hope this helps in your decision!

on 2016-03-13 Good light duty vac
The Black & Decker HNV220BCZ01FF Compact Hand Vac is a nice seccond hand vac for light duty work and quick pickups, but I wouldn't recommend it as your only hand vac. A good comparison is the Black & Decker CHV1410L BLACK + DECKER CHV1410L 16 volt Lithium Cordless Dust Buster Hand Vac
which costs about twenty dollars more. The attached pictures how the two vacs side by side. The Compact Hand Vac is surprisingly powerful, but not quite as powerful as the full size vac (about 14.4 watts vs. 18.2 watts). The suction is good on both, but you can tell that the Compact Vac is a little less powerful. The Compact Vac weights much less than the full size vac (1lb 8oz vs,2lbs 10oz), but the full size vac has a very good ergonomic design which makes it feel lighter than it really is. As you can see in the attached pics, the full size vac has a much better filter system and it's attachments stay permanently attached even when they're not being used so that you'll never loose them. The full size vac can even rotate it's nozzle 90 degrees to help get into tight areas. One big difference is that the full size vac charges very quickly and when the battery is fully charged, the charger shuts off. In contrast, the Compact Vac charges very slowly and has no charge indicater LED -- it appears that the Compact Vac is using a "trickle" charge method which sends a small, constant current regardless of whether the battery is fully charged or not -- if that's the case, the battery in the Compact Vac will probably not last as long as the battery in the full size vac. All in all, if you need a small vac for quick pickups like pet food, this is a good option.

It's great for picking up small dust balls or hair from ...
I'm actually very surprised at the suction strength of this Black & Decker handheld vacuum. It's great for picking up small dust balls or hair from hard surfaces. The attachment isn't as useful as you think because the brush hair is short. You can't really dig into anything with it. It's not as good on carpet as a normal vacuum cleaner (you shouldn't be using this for that anyway). This comes with a wall mount and mounting it is the best way to charge this device. Otherwise, the charging base just sits there and it's quite an eye sore. There's no cable that you can plug into the vacuum itself and you must use the plastic/flimsy base. There's also no charging status light for the battery so you won't know if it's full or near empty. Although the vacuum is relatively lightweight, i can't imagine using this for more than 5 minutes without feeling a bit tired and having to put it down. And this is partially because you have to hold down the power button to keep the vacuum on. I'm not sure if my product is just defective, but keeping my thumb on the power button is not efficient and ergonomically healthy.
- Great suction for smaller hard to reach surfaces
- Wall mount
- Easy to clean filter
- Cheap and flimsy charging base
- No charging status indicator
- No constant on (you have to continuously hold down the power button to use)

Surprisingly lightweight, yet heavy duty in suction power.
I had my doubts about this handheld vacuum because of how light the box was. I’ve had a Black & Decker handheld vacuum before and it worked really well, but it did fall off the top of her refrigerator and broke, so I wanted a replacement. To my surprise, the vacuum itself was substantial, and even comes with a couple of attachments. I was able to pick up large pieces of stuffing out of a dog toy, along with other normal crumbs. I didn’t have to go back and retrace my steps because the vacuum didn’t pick up something. I’m quite impressed with this one, specially since it is so lightweight. I was ready to send this back before trying it out, but I am glad I didn’t.

DONT BUY THIS HAND VAC!!!!!!!!!!
purchased in march and picked up out of charging cradle yesterday and had no charge!! For something only being 3 months olds and i only operate it to pick up dog hair on couch, emptying and getting hair out of filter each time, this hand vac should have lasted a very long time. Here it is 3 months since i bought and I'm stuck with having no hand vac and after spending over 30.00 i refuse to buy another.

The first one of these I ordered was broken. The tab connecting the plastic housing to the vacuum had broken off in the packaging. BTA-MALL was great and shipped a new one right away. Upon receipt of the new one it had a charge to it and functioned properly. The filter in it will not hold fine dust or ash in, it will blow out the back of the unit. The charging dock mounts on the wall and the vacuum sits in it, but there is no light on the dock or vacuum to let you know that it is charging or has a full charge. Overall it was a good purchase, but it could use a better filter and a charging indicator light.

Value for Money!
Works very well. Battery lasts about 10 minutes on full charge - enough to clean one room or the car. Not meant to be used to clean the full house or as replacement for upright vaccum.
1. The plastic quality is not good - it easily cracked with a fall from about 3 feet
2. There is no indicator (light) which shows if the vaccum is charging or if done.

Does the job
This works just fine. I leave it on the charger and use it to clean my car upholstery, pick up dry spills, clean under cushions, hard to reach areas. I have used it for up to thirty minutes with no problems. Has a nice little small brush attachment that works well on upholstery. No complaints given the reasonable price.

Good little vacuum!
I bought this to be by my cat's litter box to quickly pick up stray pebbles. It works just as intended and the suction seems to be good for a little hand held vacuum. As others mentioned, the air blows out the back which could case things to blow around before they are sucked up if they are positioned behind the vacuum, however knowing this, I usually position the nozzle to avoid this. The charge on the vacuum is great, the suction is good. I'd recommend it.

All things considered this is a good product.
This thing is really light and the battery seems to last forever. Has plenty of pickup power. I like how the switch works. Just a simple press and release when needed. I dont like how it seems to roll over pretty easily when you set it down. All in all its a pretty good product, and having only owned 1 prior with NiCad battery, these lithium ion batteries seem to make all the difference in the world!
