Great price, very good images - room for stand improvement
Even though I had some difficulty installing included software on my ancient xp computer. I was able to use their provided simple viewing interface to take pictures and screen shots.
Zooming in is cumbersome since the scroll to magnify is stiff and located on the camera which moves/jiggles and is hard to maintain focus. The "snap" and "zoom" buttons are also located on the camera which presents their own set of challenges. I used painters tape to "strap down" the base from wiggling. Mixed results, patience is a must.
Other owners have suggested functions such and magnification and other buttons be located on the usb cable itself, and I completely agree. Like old fashioned lamps, rotary dials were located on the cord.
In addition the scroller it is difficult to determine what magnification you are currently viewing. All the way left is 20X, and all the way right is 800X. Anywhere in between is anyone's guess.
A full overview is available below.

I would definitely recommend it. It's "800x" zoom is a result of 160x optical and 5x digital. No documentation but easy enough to figure it out. It comes with software that lets you capture photos/video. Definitely as good of lighting as you're going to get at this price point and it comes with an in-line brightness adjustment. You can also edit brightness/contrast/sharpness/hue etc in the software on a per-picture/session basis.

It works but it could've been so much better. Terrible software
This microscope does work, but only if you install all the Chinese software that comes with it which I was very afraid of doing, and once it is up and running, you can't expand the picture to full screen which is really inconvenient. Additionally the lens isn't perfect, so as you're zooming in you see all the scratches on the surface of the lens. I never touched it so I know wasn't me, just bad mammy manufacturing. This could've been so much better

Amazing clarity for the price!
Although the product is not made to be specifically compatible with a Mac computer, you can still plug the USB into a port and view the live feed through Photobooth. Just be forewarned that you need to make some changes under the system and app preferences, otherwise the live feed from this microscope will have horrible resolution. When I first plugged this in to my 27" imac with retna display, I was shocked at how bad the resolution was. But after some research I learned that Photobooth has low resolution as its default setting. Once I changed it to high resolution......WOW!
A few things to note:
1. Microscopes do not only magnify objects. They magnify movement as well. Once you focus on an object at 800X magnification you have keep in mind that the smallest movement will cause the object to move out of your frame of view or out of focus. The best way to avoid this is by not moving the microscope in order to look at an object, but instead moving the object itself until it is in focus (either with a sewing needle or tweezers).
2. Viewing an object through a microscope is a lot like photography. How you light the object will effect the way it looks. If you want some really cool images to look at, do not always rely on the microscope's built in light. Instead, place a blade of grass on a piece of paper and rest it over a lamp shade. The light will illuminate things from the bottom. You will then be able to see things that are not able to be seen with direct surface light. This method can be used with anything that is thin and at least somewhat transparent.
3. The base is meant to hold the microscope at different angles. Take advantage of that! Do not always look at something from an overhead perspective. Tilting the microscope to 90 degrees horizontal and then placing a pin through the abdomen of a fly can enable you to see the head better. Just place the other end of the pin between the jaws of some pliers so it will keep the fly in place.
4. Always remember that what you see does not need to be what you get. After taking a photo you can then edit it to look better with regards to sharpness, contrast, color, ect.

An OK Beginner Microscope!
This microscope is an OK microscope for certain purposes. First of all, it connects to both computer and smartphone. I used the provided CD to install the driver on a Windows 10 without an issue. The microscope works even without the driver as a regular webcam and you can just use amcap (freeware) to view and record. The installation of the driver provides for some extra settings in the camera properties that includes 400x digital zoom. However, the software that came with it, CoolingTech, took a while to be installed as it was not compatible with Windows 10 and I had to use compatibility settings multiple times for it to work. Even then, the software is not intuitive and you have to play around with it to figure it out. The only supposed usage that is useful in the software is the measurement feature that requires calibration which I was not able to do. As for Android OS, assuming the phone is OTG compatible, with an adapter/converter from regular USB to micro USB CameraFi app can be used to view and record.
The camera has one dial for both zoom and focuses which means, depending on the distance, it's not very easy to focus at any level of zoom. It focuses only on some levels of zooms. The lens came with a cover that is scratched. I didn't use the cover as it messes up the focus. The snap button doesn't work so I had to manually take a screenshot of the video. The front part of the lens is screwed in and can be unscrewed which effect the focus try not to touch it. The microscope can be very shaky even when it's on its stand and fastened when you want to zoom/focus because the place of zoom/focus ring is on the camera. The magnification is definitely not 800X unless they meant 400X digital as it shows on the properties of the microscope and just 200X optical power which would work for observing small details on ordinary objects and insects but not enough for human cells, etc.

And it got much better... Great in fact, after i removed the lens cover... Lol

Works great as a native webcam with built in software.
The software is not very good, but fortunately this looks like a USB webcam to my Mac. I could use the built in Photo Booth app to see the microscope and take screen shots. It worked easily on my Windows computer also.

This is a great microscope. I used it to get up close to my seedlings and buds and it really does a great job. I shoot live video while just exploring so I can focus on the subject at hand and not worry about operating the cam itself. Then I go back and watch the video and take screenshots as needed or replay and pause anything of interest. The drivers were a tad clumsy to install, but most people can figure it out and get it done. The video is nice quality and crystal clear. It's easy to use one handed too.

This is a cheap and useless Microscope
The "portable USB Microscope" is cheap and useless. There are very few things i can find to say nice about it.
-comes with drivers needed
-The mount is made of cheap plastic, I broke it while trying to assemble it the first time. It is brittle and will fall apart
-The Optics are fuzzy and trying to get something in focus will take 10 minutes for a simple image
-The microscope itself has no mass so the slightest breeze or bump of the table throws off the entire scope
-the buttons on the microscope do not work very well, one makes a sound and captures a picture and the other does nothing
-the built in light LEDS wash out any image that is able to be captured and wont work when trying to zoom in close.

SO much fun! and very useful!
I took this out of the box the moment it was delivered because I have been looking forward to checking this out. I have been looking at everything with it including a metal sliver I have had in my thumb for a few days and I couldn't see it with my naked eye. I checked it out under the telescope and was able to verify that there was something stuck in my thumb. I ended up soaking it in anti-bacterial ointment and covering it with a bandage so it would work it's way out, and it did!
I plan on using this device to look at some of the jewelry that I am creating so I can see all of the very small parts to insure the quality of what I am making is perfect.
