Decent for cheap but that's its best feature.
This is a high value camera in the sense of what you're getting versus what you're paying. Just be aware of the limitations as well.
- Dirt cheap
- Bright on-board LED with physically adjustable dial
- Quality and resolution of images surprisingly good for this price point
- The stand is just about useless. One tension knob sets each of the two pivot points but does so unevenly such that the bottom pivot point near the base sits where you want it to but the top pivot just dangles freely. Also not heavy enough to support the camera at anything more than a 45 degree angle.
- Not plug and play, which is okay but the drivers come on a mini-CD. Yes, an actual disc, which any computer in the last 5 years no longer has a physical drive for. I had to find the oldest computer in my work building that still has this hardware to pull the drivers off and transfer them to a USB stick.
- The software has a surprising number of features but literally no documentation on how to use them. The broken English and occasional direct Chinese language menus do not help.

Worth it but not really 1000x magnification.
I've had this for about four days now, and love it. I had seen reviews that noted this didn't seem to be 1000x - so, I wasn't expecting a true 1000x zoom on it. So, ignore that this says 1000x zoom. I'm including a picture of how big of a zoom you will get from this though - and it's incredible at the price ($16.99). I'll also include a few other pictures I took.
I use it with an iMac running the High Sierra OS - and no drivers are needed for the microscope. It shows up just like any other USB camera when you plug it in. I have used it with QuickTime Player to make micro-videos and PhotoBooth for still shots, and I've used it with FaceTime. you can switch between the microscope and your normal Webcam during a FaceTime call. Very cool!
The "zoom" button appears to not do anything; the "Snap" button will flip or rotate your picture so that it's oriented how you'd expect it to move when you move the microscope around (super essential IMO). It's also really helpful to be able to adjust the lighting via the little in-line light adjuster.
So, I don't believe the zoom is really 1000x (but the zoom button does nothing either as far as I can tell - so, you might get more functionality with a PC and the PC-only app that comes with it). However, this thing is definitely worth the money, and zooms in well enough to be useful, educational, and fun.

Good for the money....
I was looking for a simple microscope that I could use to repair items that were difficult to see with the naked eye and I found one. This microscope is very convenient for those hard to see repair items. It gets you very close to the object that you are viewing with its great magnification component. But with every product that is purchased by consumers there are always the pros and cons of the product.
- Convenient, easy to set up and easy to use
- Easy installation on window operating systems 7/8/10 (have not tried on other systems yet)
- Space saving
- Great magnification clarity and crisp clear still snapshots
- Awesome video function that allows user to capture what ever they are looking at for playback later
- Base holder is not very sturdy at times
- The bottom of the base needs to be weighted
-When it comes to using the microscope to view certain objects it has to be maneuvered in order to get a clear viewing, which is not a
There are similar microscopes on the market that will do the same job but for the convenience of space and money I will recommend this microscope as a good purchase.

So So. You get what you pay for, this is cheap.
It does about what I expected for the price. Had to copy the software to a thumb drive to get it on the computer, would rather download it. The stand is not stable, to get a good view, you have to hold on to it, which results in a shaky and blurred view most of the time.

Works as stated
Works ok, the stand broke first day though. The stand really is too flimsy. The software is basic and was a little glitchy installing but got it without too much trouble. It is very touchy to focus in due to the extremely high magnifying. You really need the stand as it needs to be mounted and sitting completely still to get a good clear image. Like most of these things the instructions could be better.

I originally wrote a less favorable review but now I’m revising it as I have finally got this thing working more properly. I cannot get the measurement tool to run on my Win 7 box so I just gave up but everything else is working pretty good. Cam gives a nice clear image however the shakieness of the stand makes it a little hard to focus. There is only 4 or 5 zoom choices using the physical zoom button but it’s acceptable. I wish it had more of a zoom out range because it’s impossible to get an entire piece like a silver dollar or even a quarter in the field of view. For the money I think it’s a good buy and for that I’ve raised my rating from one star to three.

Can't complain for the price
The zoom/snap buttons on the side don't do anything, even with the "Digital Viewer" software you download from their site. Their tip on how to zoom/focus and then zoom again was helpful though and I got some really good 640x480 images of a 3D printer model (the silver/glitter image), and an extreme close-up of the black threads of my shirt.

If the software worked it would be quite handy. Not so much with Windows 8 or 10. With the legacy software it produces decent images. Very difficult to keep it steady and the perspective is usually skewed. For the money it is ok.

Not shipped as shown but works
I was using it tonight and went back to check the stand to see about replacing the one I got with the camera and then noticed it was not the stand in the photo. its the sliver one in the picture below not the black one at the top with the measurements. Its a good camera and takes the pictures i need. I wish I had noticed it earlier not a year later.

Support bracket is lacking
Camera is nice, software is good, but the support bracket SUCKS (sorry for the language) Ended up having to go out and buy an aftermarket that makes the setup really nice now
