Bought this tool not for its normal construction or house hold use. I purchased the saw to cut and quarter elk. Just a little over 8lbs with battery so you can pack in the field. Gets the job done in a big hurry,

I bought the drill and hammer of this line so I bought this item since it uses the same battery. I hade to cut a 2by4 and I was shocked how fast it went through it. My corded Saws All doesn't cut this fast ! It ate it up in 2 seconds. My reaction was WOW ! The batteries charge in 20 minutes so if you buy 2 or 3 you are always ready to go.

Cuts like a dream. The inch and a quarter stroke makes all the difference, that and a good sharp blade. Surprised this saw has so much power. Ergonomics are excellent. I hated to do it but I deducted one star because the equivalent DeWalt recip saw B007NVSTCK is currently selling for the same price but they are running a promo offer of a free 3 amp hour 20v max battery/charger combo kit (almost a hundred dollar value) making the DeWalt saw a much better deal but since I'm already invested in the Makita eco-system I went with this saw. Be nice if they offered Makita users a sweet deal like that every once in a while.
Father's Day Update: To make things worse for Makita the price has now dropped on the Dewalt saw. The DeWalt now costs substantially less and you still get the free battery/charger comb kit.

Wow! It's one of the best tools I own! I previously own cord one and it's really old but still running. So I decide to go cordless and it works wonderful. If you have a big project, I do recommend at least two batteries because it last approximately 30-45 minutes per battery. But still love it.

Blades are quick and easy to attach/detach
Such an upgrade from my old Bosch corded recip. Blades are quick and easy to attach/detach, it's lightweight, and runs smooth. I honestly have no bad things to say about it. In my opinion, if your on the fence about it, then go ahead and buy it!

I definitely recommend it for anyone that has a home and garden
Very handy for gardening surprisingly. It does go though batteries quick and I kind of wish I had purchased the brushless model for more efficient battery time. It beats a hand saw hands down for rough cutting anything, from tree branches to pipes. I definitely recommend it for anyone that has a home and garden. Right up there with a cordless drill and impact driver as far how often you will use it.

I cannot believe this is battery powered tool. It almost has power and stroke of cabled saw.
Used during snowstorm to cut branches of fallen tree. I had qualms about liquid and moisture entering but nothing happened.
Worked about 30 min on 5 AMH battery, continuously.

A Great Addition to Makita's Very Nice LXT Line of Li-Ion Powered Tools
A friend introduced me to Makita's LXT line of tools. First I bought drills, then this "sawsall," which has always been one of the tools I've found most useful. I love it! While it's usually sold with a 4Ah battery, it runs quite well on the 2Ah batteries that came with the drills.
