Gorgeous blanket, and shouldn't shed if you wash it this way…
This blanket is lovely, and probably the softest thing I've ever touched!
Shedding-wise - here's how I wash it, and I have zero shedding issues: Wash blanket without any other items in the wash, and on a cold wash. Then hang it out to dry instead of putting it in a dryer. It actually dries surprisingly quickly. Doing it this way, there is no shedding at all, and the blanket maintains it's softness.
I have definitely had similar problems in the past that other reviewers have had in regards to shedding, but I've found this is largely to do with mixing the blanket with other things in the wash, and then putting it in the dryer. If you follow the instructions above, hopefully that shouldn't be a problem for you. The blanket's worth it anyway!

A really nice blanket, but with a caveat
Years ago my daughter was given a Hannah Montana fleece blanket as a present. It has been known in our house ever since as "Softie." As the name suggests, Softie is a really soft blanket, the softest I had ever experienced. When I ordered the Pinzon chocolate blanket I vowed that I would use Softie as a benchmark against which to judge the newcomer. Fat chance, thought I. Nobody beats Softie! But when we opened the box and felt the new chocolate blanket, there was no contest: the Pinzon blanket was even softer. That is a huge point in its favor. The Pinzon blanket is also very warm. Used as a layer between my daughter and her comforter, it has succeeded in keeping her warm at night for perhaps the first time in her life: she is never, ever warm enough in bed, despite sleeping with a hot water bottle. The Pinzon blanket scores again.
The problem with the blanket, however, and the reason for its reduced star rating (let's say 3.5 stars), is that it sheds like crazy. There are little pieces of brown lint everywhere: on the bedding, on the towels for some inexplicable reason, on the curtains next to the bed it's used on. I washed the blanket, thinking this would cure things. (I was eager to see how much lint I'd find in the lint trap after drying: surprisingly, it wasn't much at all.) Now back in use, the blanket seems to still be shedding--though it's true I'm not 100% sure that the pieces of lint we're finding now aren't pre-wash remnants that are just migrating from one place to another.
Lint, then, is a big problem. But the pleasure of wrapping yourself up in a warm chocolate bear of a blanket may override your concerns about that. Because otherwise, the Pinzon is a really nice blanket.

After the brief shedding period, this blanket is PERFECT.
I had to do a lot of comparison shopping before deciding on this blanket, and I couldn't be happier with my choice.
After first opening it, yes, there were a lot of fuzzies shedding everywhere. This is literally the only negative I've experienced with this blanket. And honestly, it didn't bother me that much, as I just cleaned them off my couch for a week or so. After time and maybe one washing, the shedding will go away. This same shedding issue has also plagued other similar blankets I've tried, so it wasn't all that surprising to me, and from past experience, I knew it would be a temporary problem.
Other than that, I love this blanket. It is soooooo soft, and very big. I would highly recommend a king size, even if it's bigger than you think you need. There's nothing worse than being just a few inches short of being able to cover your entire body during those cold winter months.
I got the gray version, and it looks pretty much like the product description picture. With how happy I am with the blanket, I am pretty certain I will now order another one in the chocolate color for another room.
Conclusion on this is: YES!

If you can get it dirt cheap like I did, it's a winner
I'm having zero evidence of shedding. The blanket is shaggier on one side and more satiny and short-piled on the other, and yes, SUPER soft like a teddy bear. I haven't washed it yet because these fleece fabrics always lose a little softness with each washing, and I want to enjoy it brand new for a little while.
I bought the tan or sand color, and it's a very nice almost neutral, maybe heavier on the pink side of the spectrum than the green. Works great for me, and when I layer it on top of my comforter, I think I could survive an arctic winter.
There is a lot of competition on BTA-MALL in this category of blanket, so I can't say that this is the best deal out there for you, but when I bought mine in king size, it was on sale for less than $12, and for that price I am thrilled. I would have bought more just to have around, but the price went up to $29.99.

OMG - this blanket is SO SOFT!! I find myself wanting to "pet" it along with my cats - it's softer than they are!! SO comfortable - but lightweight, so that it's also good in summer on those nights when a sheet just isn't enough. My cats love to lie on it, too!! And the best part is that it doesn't hurt my legs - if you have peripheral neuropathy, then you know what I mean about the leg thing. Some blankets are too heavy and rub on the legs - this one I can barely feel. I couldn't have asked for a better blanket if I'd had one custom-made!! I want more of them... the only problem is that everything but the grey one is a little too pricey at the moment. But if those prices fall a bit, I'll be back for more!! Honestly, they're worth the higher price, tho.... :)

Soft and cozy
I live in Arizona so there are a lot of days between heat and extreme cold. This is super soft and I didn't get a shedding problem out of the box and after using it for a while.
I haven't washed it yet because my last throw was ruined in the wash. I will have to eventually but so far it's perfect and a very reasonable price. I do notice most of the negative reviews are after washing so we will see. I will say out of the box, it was perfect with no smell or shedding or anything.

I love it despite the original shedding
I've had this for about eight months now. We are still using it, even in the summer time. It did the job well during the winter time too.The king blanket is massive, but that's just what we needed for two blanket-hoggers.
There was a lot of lint in the first 2-3 washes. After every wash, it shed enough that I thought about returning this blanket. But it was a great price and it's very soft and comfortable to touch that we decided to keep it. I'm glad that we did.

Can I wear this blanket out?
I've had soft blankets similar to this one before, the ones with the sherpa fuzz on the other side, but those constantly pile and no longer feel soft on the white side. So I wanted a blanket that would stay consistently soft. This arrived yesterday and immediately in pulling it out of the bag, this feels EVEN SOFTER than those blankets. How is that possible? It feels amazing and I feel like I want to wear it around like a snuggie or something. I actually have it on me right now. My cat approves too, he keeps wanting to sit and roll around on it as well.
I gave it an initial washing following the tag's instructions: cold water and low heat for drying. There was no fuzz in the lint catcher other than the expected amount of dust. I think if you just avoid heat, this blanket will prevent from shedding as other reviewers noted. If it still starts to shed, I'll be back to update my review. For now, I'm very happy with this blanket!
Update 1/4/16: I have laundered this blanket many times now. No issues with using warm and hot water and drying with heat either. However, I did make a mistake that ruined this blanket - I have to take my laundry to a public laundromat because we travel in an RV. I tossed in my blanket and left the professional dryer on high heat. There are now spots on the blanket where it got so hot that the fabric melted and fused in a scratchy thin layer like plastic. It happened to my sherpa blanket too (the cheap kinds you get at Walmart) so I now know better to never leave these blankets in the heavy duty dryers on high heat. Those things are way too hot. So sad for my blanket, guess I will just need to get a second!

No lint after washing
The blanket left little puffs of fuzz on the bed when I first unboxed it.
I washed it in cold water and dried it on low for an hour (it was dry after 15 minutes).
I expected a lot of lint in the lint basket, but had less than the normal amount when I dry a normal load of clothes.
Maybe the cold water helped with the lint problem.?
Bottom line...no lint on the bed after washing.
The size is almost too big for a 'full' bed.
The blanket is ridiculously soft.

I thought I made a great purchase. After using for a while the blanket ...
When I first opened the package I felt the softest blanket I had ever felt. I thought I made a great purchase. After using for a while the blanket practically started falling apart one lint ball at a time. I have tried everything to prevent the lint balls from accumulating but finally had to throw the blanket away. It was leaving SO much lint in my bed and the carpet in my bedroom I just couldn't take it anymore. I read positive reviews for this item so maybe I just got a defective one I'm not sure. I do know that I am not confident enough in the product to try giving it a second chance.
