5 Stars By Pat on 2017-03-09 A Security Problem Solved We live on several acres of forested land in a remote mountain area in northern New Mexico. We are surrounded by a National Park and the National Forest. Initially we were looking for a home security system to monitor both the inside and outside of our house. We spent a lot of time over the last several months pouring over specs and reviews for both wired and wireless system, but we could not find an affordable system with good reviews that could satisfy all of our requirements. A few weeks ago we decided to try the 12 MP Apeman Trail Camera for a possible network of stand-alones . We loaded the the Apeman with 8 alkaline batteries and a 32 MB memory card. The camera setup, which took only a few minutes, went exactly as covered in the instructions, and the camera has functioned exactly as advertised. The picture quality, both video and still-shots, is good, as is the audio function. We spent 2 weeks trying various camera settings and locations, both inside and outside, during some sub-zero weather conditions and several snow storms. We then ordered two additional Apeman 12 MP cameras, and their setup and operation has gone exactly like the original camera (as advertised).
The original alkaline batteries were close to depletion at the end of 10 days of almost continuous use that came close to filling the memory card with a mix of still-shots and videos. We have now loaded all 3 cameras with lithium batteries, but as of yet cannot give information on their longevity. The USB port for downloading to a PC is very helpful and again has been easy to use and has worked as advertised. The still-shots can be cropped, enhanced, and munipulated easily, however, we haven't tried editing the video clips yet. The camera's shutter speed for still-shots is a bit slow, so a fast moving subject will tend to blur, but we have solved this problem with taking short video clips every few seconds instead.
We could not be happier with our purchases and plan to expand our network gradually over the next few months.
5 Stars By Sand Man on 2017-05-21 The Greatest! Better known as a trail cam, this often overlooked type of camera is intended to watch the migratory habits of wildlife and is beneficial to many people for a variety of reasons. They are an excellent form of surveillance and can be set up for a variety of specific purposes, provide pictures as answers, solve mysteries, and will do so while eliminating mountains of recorded video common to a CCTV type of home/business surveillance system. The H65 camera watches for movement and when triggered will either snap a picture or start recording a video. There is an immense amount of flexibility when setting up the H65 so that multiple photos can be recovered in a series or videos can be set to record from 10 seconds to 10 minutes, all depending on the type of information you expect to retrieve. For instance, in its most basic role as a security cam watching over an area that is expected to remain uninhabited, any movement will trigger the unit into action. Since movement would mean there is an intruder, the camera can be set to record for 10 minutes with a zero interval in between videos in order to provide constant video coverage for as long as movement is detected. I am getting excellent service from my units watching the wildlife entering my yard. In such cases where there is a high population count, then the camera can be expected to remain quite busy with all the movement, which is detected reliably out to 50 feet. In this instance, multi-photo sequences or very short video clips are the most productive at catching birds in mid-flight and critters romping all about all in majestic living color. Since these cameras are not intended to run constantly, they require a certain amount of time to activate after detecting movement, and that is referred to as its trigger time. It is very important since a key bit of information can be missed in the few seconds it takes for the camera to wake up and respond. Generally a wide field of view is provided so the camera can pick up more than just what passes directly in front of it, but the time lapse can be five seconds (or more) before it actually begins snapping away. In that amount of time, somebody can actually walk into camera view and back out of view again before a picture can be taken. To help curtail this, Apeman has cleverly incorporated side viewing monitors (PIR) into the H65 that detect movement outside the camera's field of view, giving the camera advanced notice that something is approaching and will hopefully trigger the unit in sufficient time to catch whatever passes in front of the camera instead of letting it skate on through without ever being photographed. This is a truly invaluable asset that works surprisingly well more times than just causing a false trigger, for instance if a moving branch triggers the camera. One little hot tip: don't clean the motion detectors with anything but a very soft brush when they get dusty. Wiping with a rag or anything else will scratch them up. Setup is performed on a touch screen that is protected inside the closed unit. The buttons are intuitive but in case of questions, Apeman provides a complete and well written user manual that explains everything about the H65, so don't throw this booklet away. Scrolling through the options on the screen allows all your options to be set and tested for operation before dispatching your monitor on its surveillance duties. The 1080P resolution and 12MP photo shots are very bright and clear in daytime, and the B&W IR night vision shots are lit up sufficiently as provisioned to do so by the H65. The cameras have a limited number of additional settings for video resolution and photos so some changes in these may show better results. Slow motion videos are not possible, but there are other things like a TV connection that I would likely never have any reason to use anyway. Pulling the memory card and using a USB card reader with a PC may result in better visuals when searching through them. Daytime images are easily recognized out past 100 yards distance, and even though the volume is set to medium, it picks up all local sounds exceptionally well, including the conversation going on over at the neighbors. After a couple of weeks using the same set of rechargeable batteries initially installed, the cameras are still functioning reliably without a glitch. The built-in meter has never deviated from showing a half charge in all the time and amount of recorded data I have recovered from them. It may be awhile before being fully indoctrinated on just how long to expect the batteries to last, but I'm expecting they will last for a very long time. In the meantime I have also ordered AC power supplies for which Apeman has so generously provided a 6V receptacle, eliminating any need for battery power completely, but I am sure to keep them installed just for backup power. I have nothing to criticize about the H65 units and have really gone gaga over the excellent services they provide. I can't ever imagine not having at least one H65 on patrol all the time. That being said, there are a few provisions that if ever incorporated will get my immediate approval. Those are: 1. WiFi & Ethernet connections 2. An app to control and monitor the H65 3. Zoom 4. Slow Motion 5. Two-way conversation abilities would be nice, and 6. Is remote control for adjusting positioning asking for a little too much? LOL
5 Stars By Ruth E. Martin on 2017-03-13 Great little camera! Small, lightweight and easy to use. Straightforward. We bought it primarily to catch/see what was attacking our big pond fish. The fish killed were 20" Koi, 5# Catfish, and 8# Large Mouth Bass. It took several nights, but we got a picture of a Muskrat leaving the pond. This must have been the predator. Clear pictures. Even captured our farm house 200 yds away.
5 Stars By Cat on 2017-06-25 This camera take better pictures both day and night This camera take better pictures both day and night. It fact the IR black and white pictures are sharply crisp! I did have a few false activated pics of nothing and This camera is quick to catch the passing deer. This is a much better camera then my browning, I've never had to send a moultrie camera back as the customer service was able to trouble shoot any issues. I did find out from customer service that their cameras work better on "energizer" batteries then "Duracell" due to some power limitations. T
5 Stars By Oleg on 2017-08-10 APEMAN Trail Camera 12MP Hunting Game Camera The camera is easy to use, at first it will need to be configured, as it is written in the instructions, and only then use it. This device is very convenient in terms of when you want to capture the intruder, robber or animals that come at night under your house. Night makes black and white photographs, in the afternoon - colored at a distance of about 20 meters. High-quality video, loud sound, you can make still images. It's in motion that's why forget about the mountains of recorded video from home video cameras and video surveillance systems. When viewing, you will see only frames on which someone or something is moving. Depending on the speed of the moving object and the settings you have set, you get either a video recording or a high-quality picture. You can change the recording interval, set the camera for at least 10 seconds. Or 10 minutes at the most. If this is not enough, then in the settings add an option - zero interval between the video, and the video will be recorded all the time while there is motion in front of the camera. The kit includes a wall mount, USB mounting ribbon and video cable. All that may be needed for wall mounting. And also the instruction for the operation, which I advise not to throw away, but carefully read. On the sides of the camera there are motion sensors that fix any movement and transmit information to the camera. I also can add that the camera is protected from external influences: neither rain nor snow interfere with its functions. I like my purchase, that's what I wanted. 5 Stars By Tammy Parker on 2017-08-07 Great little camera at great price As a tribal environmental specialist in the US Southwest we use these cameras to catch illegal dumpers and other naughty folks. Sometimes we even get great wildlife shots that we post to our Facebook page to up our views and remind people that we have an eye on them. We have had 12 different cameras and this Apeman Trail Cam is my technician's favorite. It is compact and has a security setting which makes it less desirable to steal (a problem we've faced in the past). The picture quality is excellent and the black LEDs allows for less obvious photography in publicly used areas, which is especially important if you are trying to capture pictures of people doing illegal acts. The two side PIRs are great for improved motion detection and photo capture, giving a better centered photograph. Set up was easy and the camera came with all the cords and setup materials you could need. One criticism would be that if you're over 40 you're going to need your glasses to read the instructions, but at least it comes with printed instructions!
This camera we rated a "10" and our other cameras, Cabelas and Bushnells, we rate 5s. We've only been using this camera a few days now, so we'll wait and see how it holds up over time and if we have any problems I'll be back and post an update, but we are planning to add more of these to our arsenal as soon as possible.
5 Stars By Steven Lavar on 2017-08-03 I Love this Device !!! That's a Great wildlife camera. Very easy installation. It took about 2 minutes. Great picture quality as well as video. Also like the night mode and three zones sensor so it can trigger in different areas of the image and you can control that. I used 32 GB memory card. No issues. I like the fact that each picture has date, time and even temperature. I bought it for my backyard because different animals has been seen. With this device I am geting nice shots. Already caught racoon at his night activity inside my trash bin. It was funny! Worth the money I paid. Highly Recommend !!! Thanks
5 Stars By Kelly on 2017-04-25 Great product I have had 3 different trail cameras and this is by far the best one I have owned . It is super easy to use and takes great pictures. I mean really great pictures very crisp and clear. I love that it has a 2.5 inch screen built into it as well ,now I can check my pictures in the woods rather than taking the card out and putting it in computer to check. Give this 5 stars . Great product.
5 Stars By Joe Haze on 2017-08-13 Great cam. High quality finish. Easy to use. Nice cam. I always throw a trail cam out by the chicken coop to spy on any raccoons and possums that try to sneak into the coop at night. Luckily for me there haven't been any for a while, but that means less neat wildlife photos to share. Instead here are some pics of the chickens walking around for a quality comparison. The temperature reading seems accurate as well. By default this cam is set to 5MP. If that is sufficient for you then leave it. I can quickly check mine because it is local so I set it to 12MP right away. The pic quality seems good. I didn't have any predators lately so I can't attest to the night time pics yet. I will add pics later when I find some sneaky critters. Don't forget to take all the plastic film off of the camera lens, the PIR lenses and the IR screen. You don't want pics that look like they were taken through a bottle view.
5 Stars By Jessumbunney on 2017-05-07 Great outdoor camera. This camera is an amazing value. I have used other cameras and this one by far is the best especially for the price. I like that it is waterproof and can be strapped to a post or drilled. The picture quality is quite good and can be used for catching wildlife or as a security camera. My favorite feature is that I can view the photos right on the camera and I do not have to take out sd card and mess around.
