No Annoying Pre-Soaking
I have had both Brita and PUR water pitchers for over a decade and usually have one of each filled in my fridge. One thing in common with both of these products is that their brand-name replacement filters are very over-priced and do not seem to offer any obvious advantages over cheaper replacement filters.
In all my years of using replacement filters, I can't say as I have ever run across one that did not perform equally as well as their brand-name counterpart. Fortunately, BTA-MALL has helped to continue my lucky streak when it comes to replacement filters. These fit snugly into my existing Brita pitcher and the water tastes equally as good as with any other replacement filter.
Unlike some of the cheaper replacements I have tried, BTA-MALL's replacement filters do not have any need for pre-soaking before use. I was a bit skeptical of this as every other filter I have ever used (including the brand name ones) require pre-soaking, or your first pitcher of water ends up filled with loose bits from the carbon filter. I only ran this filter under water briefly before inserting it in the pitcher. My first pitcher of water came out clear as a bell, with no messy pieces of charcoal present. It was a pleasant surprise to find out that this product works exactly as advertised and is still less expensive per filter than any of the other generic brands that I have tried. This product is definitely a winner.

Great filter so far
Recieved my package, one filter had a crack down the center and I could not use. I called BTA-MALL and they replaced it with no charge. For the none broken filter, it works fine and I do not have any issues with taste.

Not worth the money. Get the real ones.
Anyone who's had a Brita knows that after a while the water doesn't filter as quickly as when you put a new filter in. Now imagine that it acted like that when it WAS new. I filter 3-4 pitchers a day (tap water sucks here), so I know how quickly water filters. I got a new one of these filters out not too long ago, and it was covered in gray dust. I thought it wasn't a big deal, but it wouldn't rinse off. A wet paper towel got most of it off, but not all. The package says these do not require pre-soaking, but that isn't entirely accurate. The instructions flat-out say to submerge the filter in water and shake out the air bubbles, and that no *further* pre-soaking is necessary. I did that, and I had freshly washed the pitcher itself, so I put it together to run a few throwaway pitchers of water through. It took SOOO long to filter the water, it was ridiculous. After it finished, I went to dump it and noticed that it looked like something was left behind in the area where you pour the water to be filtered. Brita owners are probably familiar with the black speck stuff, but this looked like fibers of some sort. I rinsed it out again and chalked it up to chance. It happened again on the second run. The water isn't mysteriously forming fibers out of thin air, so my only guess is that something is floating up out of the filter. Also, after I did the pre-soak and wipe off of the new filter, I set it down on a clean paper towel while I assembled the pitcher (forgot to do so earlier). When I picked up the filter, the paper towel had a giant gray spot. This thing is supposed to filter junk *out* of the water, not add more junk to it. I was very annoyed. I didn't want the hassle of returning the other filters, and I don't like to throw things away, so I tried to make use of them. Today, I give up. I'm throwing the 2nd one (that I tried to use today and had the same results as the first) and the third, still in the box. The water didn't even taste like it was well-filtered (with the first one). Back to Brita I go.

They fit the newest Britta pitchers, but not my older one.
These look a bit different from the Brita filters I’ve been using (see photo) thought they appear to have the same overall shape. But when I inserted them in the pitcher, they don't seal the same way the Brita cartridges do. They slip into place, but when you press them in down to seal them, they pop up. If you hold them in while you fill the pitcher, water pressure seems you hold them in, but I suspect some water is leaking around the filter.
Then I tried them in a newer Britta, and surprise- they fit perfectly, and in fact look just like the new filters. If you have a new Britta pitcher, then, these will work just fine for you. But if your pitcher is several years old- you should probably buy a new one anyway.

Water filter for older Brita pitcher.
At first they didn't drain the top portion of the pitcher all the way, but after a dozen or so they worked fine, Water is clear and taste is good.

Can't tell the difference
Can't tell the difference between this product and the brand one. Save a few bucks. Worst that can happen is you go back to the brand product. Give it a try.

These do work. There is a slight difference in taste from the Britta filters but not enough to make too much of a difference.

Total Waste of Money
The entire BTA-MALLBasics water filtration pitcher "system" is a joke. Spend a few more dollars for a Brita! Nothing about this does what it's supposed to other than the pitcher holding water. Total crap product. HUGE disappointment & waste of my money!
