5 Stars By Jhorlin A. on 2016-12-03 Surpassed my expectations I purchased the d3 for our busy home. We have a three year old and a one year old. Our kitchen is always dirty and that frustrates my wife. We went out to dinner one night and while we were away I instructed neato to clean. We came to a clean kitchen floor. No rasins or goldfish crumbs. Before purchasing a neato we gave iRobot 770 a chance. The smart laser guided cleaning is much better than irobot's psudorandome cleaning pattern. Also in a large house neato will go from room to room while iRobot kept bouncing around without fully compleating one room and becouse of this psudorandome behavior it takes much longer to finish the job.
5 Stars By juannabie on 2017-05-09 woke up from dog hair nightmare Every day neato botvac picks up the insane amount of dog hair that has cursed my existence until now. I love this little guy! Sometimes he does get stuck, but it's not a big deal (he sends me a text message that says "I"m stuck" and it's kind of adorable). Overall he is very impressive at navigating around the house, recharging himself, and remembering where he left off. We have everything from super thin rugs (that get sucked up in the regular vacuum) to hardwoods to thick shag rugs and he cleans it all. All I have to do is pick up shoes, dog toys, and the cords from the blinds before he starts. Life = changed.
2 Stars By Always Summer Here on 2017-02-11 Wait for the next version...at half the price... Update: I had to send it back.
It would not stay connected to WiFi. I wanted and loved the WiFi capability, but if does't work it is useless to me. I continually had to reset and for the premium price it ended up being no better than the Roomba.
So this one goes back and I'm going to try this one: Eufy RoboVac 11. Got good reviews and half the price. I read through all the reviews and it is well loved.
I have had quite a few Roombas. I dearly loved the little guys. They did a pretty good job for me until I compared them to the Neato. I was so close to getting the new iRobot Roomba 805 Vacuum Cleaning Robot from Costco when I found the Neato D3. The price was about the same and it was one particular review here on BTA-MALL that tipped me to the Neato side. He had both the D3 and the Roomba 805 and he said the D3 kicked the Roomba 805 to the curb. So I took a chance because BTA-MALL is SO WONDERFUL with returns if I made a mistake.
Here's my comparison: PROS D3 is faster. The cleaning algorithm is more logical. Roomba consistently bounces off the walls, furniture etc. D3 does a better job. Roomba took longer to clean. When I see the clean rug path from the D3 is a very logical up and back path. D3 Price. The same. D3 deployed without issue on the scheduled cleaning times My Roomba Scheduler always had an issue and wasn't consistent. D3 works with the iPhone. The older Roombas did not. I can't speak for the newer ones. Neato tells me when it is stuck. D3 did not get hung up once. Wish I could say that about the Roombas....
Cons Neato cleaning device. Makes me mad when a company can't throw in an essential cleaning tool which costs about 2 cents to make. Roomba always includes a small almost-letter-opener type cutter that quickly cuts any string-like debris that gets in the brushes. Luckily I have one from my Roomba stash, but shame on Neato for not including this with their $400 robot. You get it with the high unit....D5...arrgh!
Pairing Issues. I had some pairing issues and had to "re pair" it several times. I was close to sending it back, when finally it seems to remember the connection. This was critical because I have it set to deploy at 10:30 every day and with that lost connection it would not self-clean. Other users had the same issue, but eventually the Neato "learned". It's cleaned 30 times now and no issues after the first pairing issues.
Filter. I swear Neato put the crappiest, lowest-quality filter in the delivered machine.. I looked at it and saw it was a piece of crap. It worked okay, I could tell it was not a long-term, quality filter. I bought two different filters advertised on BTA-MALL. Although much more expensive, I felt that the Neato Botvac D Series Ultra-Performance Filter (2-Pack) for $27.17 were far superior. As another reviewer noted, this filter also has a small screen to help filter debries that the other filters didn't have and I have found it superior to the cleaning and most importantly being about the clean afterwards. I believe you should clean the filter after every use as it does help improve pickup ability. Again, shame on NEATO for NOT INCLUDING the DECENT filter.
I also did try the 4-pack High-Performance Filter replacement + 1 Side Brush for all Neato Botvac Series models, 70e 75 80 85 1 that were 10.45. These were good because they had the pleated filter, but didn't have the screen as mentioned above. If money is tight, these are better than that crap original filter, but the Neato ones are still the best IMHO.
One last note...take a close look at the picture with the 1 cup of debris collected. I had an old toothbrush devices that had long bristles attached at the top that I use to clean the pleated filters. It works perfectly. I can't for the life of me remember where I got it, but this is what you need to quickly keep the filter clean. That crappy filter included with the D3 originally seem to be like a magnet and once used I couldn't get the majority of the dust particles off the filter. For that reason, I really questioned the quality of the filter.
The pictures of the filters: BOTTOM original filter, MIDDLE "High Performance Filter" TOP Neato filter.
After a month, I'm still happy with my purchase. The one unknown right now is the longevity of the battery. The Roomba batteries cost about $25 and lasted a year. There was a trick to "refreshing" a dead battery. Take battery out, press START and hold it for 10 seconds. Then replace the battery. Don't know if it will work for the NEATO, but the robot guts are similar so I can't imagine this trick wouldn't also work for Neato. Also, put the date on your battery so you can see how long it lasts.
2 Stars By JeffM on 2017-12-21 App and connectivity does not function properly Just purchased the Neato D3 Wi-Fi connected Botvac:White. The unit picks up dirt pretty good and maneuvered around in our home decently. However, the connectivity with the App did not work properly. After successfully "pairing" the botvac with Wi-Fi and my phone, the status was constantly Offline or Not Available. Since this unit does not offer the option for manual programming on the device, you must rely on the App to be able to schedule cleanings. Needless to say, since the status was always Offline or Not available, scheduling was not possible. So, after manually starting the bot it did clean pretty good while it navigated through the rooms. However, after that it randomly would leave the base to continue cleaning until it was done. after that, since there was no schedule, it would no longer leave the base on it's on. Also, the App was supposed to provide notifications and cleaning "status". Neither happened with the App. Having a functional App is key in enjoying and receiving the full benefits of this model. Bottomline for us, the bot vacuums good, maneuvers good(in our home), but is less effective without a functioning App. The connectivity was one of the major reasons we purchased this model and unfortunately it didn't work for us.

5 Stars By Ryan Harter on 2017-12-27 I love this robot. I've only had the Neato D3 for a few days, but it's been great so far. I've vacuumed a bunch of times in the last few days and my wife gets a kick out of me cheering it on.
5 Stars By Justin on 2017-05-23 Way better than my Roomba 880 Here are the good and bad things about the D3, decide for yourself if it's worth it for you!
Good: - It can go over the black borders around my area rugs! My Roomba 880 couldn't do this, and is the main reason I wanted to try the Neato. - The navigation is so much smarter than the Roomba. It goes in straight lines across the room instead of randomly bouncing around the room in diagonal lines like my Roomba. I notice with my open floor plan it's smart enough to go maybe 20 feet across a room then stop, turn around, and start criss crossing that room, rather than going straight through 2-3 rooms and never finishing the room it's in. - The laser turret works better than even the latest Roombas, because lasers work in the dark. - I love being able to start/stop it from my phone. This is a big plus because I'm a marathon runner so when I'm done with a run and plop down in a chair, I'm NOT getting up. - It sends me push notifications when it's stuck, done, etc... - The vacuum head is much wider than the Roomba (because the Roomba is round), so it can cover more surface area faster. - It handles vacuuming against walls better because of the wider vacuum head and having a square face. - Much cheaper than the top of the line Roombas.
Bad: - It doesn't handle my dining room table and chairs well. It spent a half hour circling around the legs over and over, repeating the areas it had already cleaned. It also got stuck under the table, even though the chairs have enough space between the legs for it to get out. - It gets stuck every now and then, as the top laser turret has beveled edges so it makes it easy to wedge itself under couches and side tables. It even got stuck when it ran over a small dice, which scares me because I have 3 young girls so dice are the least of what it'll be facing soon enough. I'm going to try to raise some of my furniture up to alleviate the problem.
All in all, I'm very happy with it so far. When I ran it in my carpeted basement, which is open and has no sectioned off rooms, it made perfectly straight lines all across the basement. It also handled our bedroom / sitting room / master bath well, finishing each room before it started on the next. As mentioned it struggles a little in my open floor plan kitchen / living room / dining room, however the fact that it can go over the black in my living room and foyer rugs makes it a keeper.
2 Stars By Chris on 2017-02-10 Enjoy the price to feature ratio and the open floor cleaning, but obstacle navigation is extremely poor I really enjoy the way the Neato meticulously cleans open floors with a predictable pattern. While its not as powerful as a Roomba it's patterns, room mapping, and price point attempt to make up for it. One of the features I was most looking forward to using was the Recharge and Continue job. My hope was that I could run the bot 1 go 2 times daily and make up for its slightly weaker suction as compared to Roomba. This is where the problems begin. The Neato is very good at open spaces, BUT, once it gets around tables, chairs, desks, etc, its navigation goes to hell. I've had my bot for roughly 2 weeks now and it has yet to return itself to base and finish a job as it gets 'stuck' everyday.
I agree that cords, small objects, high ply carpet, etc could be cause for it to get stuck or hung up. Since I have no carpet in my home at all I was figuring this would be a cake walk for it. But due to its easy confusion around large objects its become more of a headache than anything. I don't think its reasonable to move dining room chairs and table, kitchen table, etc just to run the bot without it getting stuck,
4 Stars By Coleen Petrey on 2017-10-03 Well worth the purchase, but a couple observations. Pretty impressed so far on week one of owning this vac. We went with Neato because of recommendations from family/friends. You can hear and almost see the suction power immediately. It did get stuck on a clothing item left on the floor and caught a string to one of our kiddos toys and stopped itself while in it's cleaning cycle while we were at work. But I liked how it notified you so you knew what to come home to. After two days of routine clean I have an entire basket full of lint & dirt to empty. Can't believe I didn't own this before! Only odd thing was the manual says to clean using a comb that didn't come in the package, kind of weird even checked the packaging twice--do I seriously have to buy this extra piece after spending some 300+ dollars? I feel like this was a mistake...
5 Stars By jeff on 2016-12-26 Highly recommend It never got stuck , battery lasts about 1 1/2 hr clean time, it's amazing, cleans well , navigates my whole entire house , really a nice machine, cleans edges good even without the side spinner, boundary markers can be used with it , it does do spot cleaning , and you can upgrade the filters , it also has extra care mode that a lot of people don't know about in the advance settings on the app , this mode doesn't bump into anything and will clean house faster but doesn't clean as well (edges) but for a quick clean it does the trick , I'm truly blown away how nice this unit is for $350 , I got mine at target bc u get a $50 gift card and unneeded quick for xmass , or I would of ordered it off BTA-MALL, they have a $50 mail in rebate I think , put some pics up of what it got on my first couple uses , and we keep our house fairly clean , amazing!!!
