Definitely not as safe as a fixed blade but locking is better than no lock
Bought this for $13.50 in May 2018.
The 4 star rating is a function of both cost and quality. This product is not going to compete against higher end multi-tools that cost 5 to 10 more.
I own several multi tools in this price range including one from Stanley and one from Ozark which were purchased in the 8-12 range. Here is how I rated.
Locking - Neither the Stanley or Ozark had locking tools. This one has locks on all of its fold out tools. definite plus for safety. if you ever had a sharp blade on a non-locking tool close on your hand before this is very important quality. Definitely not as safe as a fixed blade but locking is better than no lock.
Tool quality - the metal in all three tools was not identified. Stanley makes a ton a regular everyday hand tools and I’d probably trust their steel more than this tool. This tool seems to have two different types of steel. The pliers seem to be some kind of tool steel and would probably be comparable to the Stanley. The fold out tools, including the blade are a very shiny metal, maybe some kind of alloy, possibly stainless (took one star off for this). Probably good for light duty but for the occasional cutting that this would see the occasional rope, plastic packaging, cardboard boxes etc, they get the job done.
This tool was about as functional as the others and felt good in the hand. May need a rubberized Coating or gloves if you intend on heavy use.
None of the tools in this price range are sharp out of the box. They are sharp-ish, meaning if you tried hard they would cut. This is not a deal breaker for me because a quick power strop or fine honing would get them all scary sharp (also why locking blades are a must for me)
So in summary. Great tool to have a few in your glove box, tackle box, etc for those times when you don’t have your better quality tools on you. If your looking for the one tool to bring with you to survive in the wilderness or something to pass down to the grandkids look elsewhere (and be prepared to open your wallet wide)

Works great awesome tool for the money , glad I purchased
Bought this multi tool for camping purposes, seems well constructed and heavy , doesn’t feel cheap in hands , like the tools lock in place and at a great price compared to the higher name brands, I didn’t feel that I needed . I used it once over the weekend and worked great for what I needed.

but feels great in your hands and very well made
Haven't used it yet, but feels great in your hands and very well made, (heavy duty). Not some cheap knock off multi-tool. Was kinda reluctant to purchase because of the low price. I was thinking you're gonna get what you pay for, but after reading reviews from other folks who purchased this multi- tool I took a chance.
A lot cheaper in price than leatherman, Gerber and the likes. Buy it you won't be disappointed.

I just got it, and I really haven't had a chance to use it. But I can tell it's well made, high quality. I'm glad I made this purchase.

Dependable and useful
Better than Leatherman! Handle facilitates grip. Easy to set up individual tools. Very effective in helping me to do the little things as I moved from one home to another.

Very sturdy. I havent had any problems with it at all
Very impressed with the strength of this multitool. Others costing 5 to 10 times as much are as good as this one.

but seems to be good quality. I like the way that tools lock ...
A little chunkier than I thought it would be, but seems to be good quality. I like the way that tools lock in place.

Phillips head too small
Well made. Real slick looking. Phillips head is way too small. Never seen it so small on a standard sized multi tool. That's the one thing that bugs me, but its a big thing.
